This was less a guided experience and more just Kayaking in a big loop. Everyone was friendly but it would have been cheaper and more fun to just rent some kayaks for the day. No wildlife pointed out, no local descriptions, just kayak down the bay and back...
My husband and I went on this tour. It was a group of 11 kayaks. They are tandem kayaks. We were basically told we could go at our own pace. The guides didn't talk about the history of the area, didn't even offer or said if we wanted to know about any of the buildings, etc, just ask. We were basically given a safety briefing, and helped into our kayaks, and we all went. The guides did a good job staying with everyone and making sure everyone turned around where needed, and made sure we all stayed on the side of the river. At one time, we even kayaked side by side with one of the guides, and no communication, then we all paddled up stream back to the drop off area. The views of Tampa were nice and kayaking is always relaxing, but at the same time it's a workout paddling back upstream. Would I do this again or recommend, No.
We had a lot of fun doing this. We did not realize that we would have a tandem kayak rather than a single, but it was still a lot of fun!!
So much fun! Definitely a physical activity, but really fun and a new way to see Tampa from below the riverwalk.
Thank you so much for joining us on the water! Downtown Tampa from the water is really is something special, and we love that you had a great time out there. We appreciate you paddling with us and hope to see you again soon.
Great experience, very much fun and very knowledgeable guide! Great sunset and nighttime views as well! Highly reccomended
Thanks Michael, glad the sunset and the river at night delivered. Thanks for coming out with us.
We had a beautiful view of Tampa from the water at night. Because my teenagers and I were the only ones on the tour, our tour guide, Lou, adjusted the tour to our abilities. We did not see a lot of wildlife, but did see bats, ducks, and some small fish. Lou did a great job of talking about the history of the area. It was clear that he has a passion for that. If you enjoy looking at a beautiful view of the Tampa downtown skyline at night from a less common perspective, and enjoy getting a little bit of exercise, then this is a good tour for you!
Thanks! Glad you and your teens had a good night out on the river — bats and ducks at night is a cool combo. Thanks for coming out with us.
Justin was a great tour guide! We really enjoyed the views and information he was able to provide throughout the tour. I would highly recommend him and doing this experience if you’re visiting Tampa.
Thanks Daijah, glad the river views at night landed. Thanks for coming out with us.
I enjoyed the views from the river at night! Justin was great as a guide! Noah was helpful with my son who couldn’t keep up the pace with the rest of the people.
Thanks! Glad the river at night was a hit, and that your son had a second set of hands out there to help with pacing. Thanks for coming out with us.
I received an email the morning of the experience from Tripadvisor with a message from clear kayak. When I opened the message, it went to their website but gave me an error so I wasn’t able to see their personal message. One of our friends was able to open it on her phone and she said that the message says that our event is canceled. I then called the venue and was disconnected. I called the venue again and a friendly employee told me that it was indeed canceled because the guide was hurt at work that morning. I do understand that things happen. However I wish the messaging sent through their website through TripAdvisor/Viator worked without a glitch. They did send me a second message when I explained the error message that happened with the original email. The second message also contained an error when taken to their website. This time though I could see the word “cancelled” next our trip number. They did offer to reschedule us but not until later in the week after our trip was over.
We showed up on time and no one was there. We called and were told that the guide was injured and unable to take tours. No one notified us to cancel and only communicated when we reached out for help.
