The 4 day Best of Scotland Tour was a great experience. Communication with the owner, Jordan, was fast and efficient. Our trip started with a pick up at our hotel in Glasgow and the adventure quickly began. Our tour leader, Ricky, was the best! Ricky provided detailed information on Scotland and unique history on the towns and sites we visited. He was very accommodating and even diverted us to a pharmacy, specialty shops and lesser known sites away from the hustle of other tour groups. Uncover Scotland Tours provides a first class, personable experience. We came across numerous different tour companies at our stops and we are so glad we had not booked one of those. We were shocked to see those other tour operators just unloading oodles of people in mass, staying on the bus and honking when it was time to get back on. Ricky spoke to us about the sites ahead of time, he exited the van each time and walked with us giving such detailed, one to one conversations about what we were seeing. He made it more like speaking to a family member rather than a stranger giving a recorded message. He offered to take pictures of us and took the time to know each of us and make sure that he knew what each of us wanted to see or experience during the tour. The overnight stays at the hotels/b&b’s were well chosen and Ricky knew of local shops and restaurants and let us know of all possible options that we could choose. Each day’s itineraries were well planned but were still relaxed and provided lots of opportunities to stop at shops, pull over and take photos, and still hit the bigger destinations before the crowds showed up. We never felt rushed - we always had the option to change our mind about seeing a site.
Thank you very much for taking the time to write this review Carol! This has to be one of our favourite reviews we have received and I love the attention to detail you have acknowledged in the lengths we go to for our guests. Your review is very much appreciated. Thank you for touring with us.
We spent 5 days with Ricky as our tour guide to show us the highlights of Edinburgh on the first day of arrival and then 4 days in the Highlands and Isle of Skye. It honestly was the most memorable trip we have ever taken with Ricky making it the very best. Scotland is a beautiful country with so much history and myths of which Ricky knew every one. Ricky would ‘prep’ us before every stop to tell us the background, insights and history of each place. We learned so much about the country, the people and the culture. We would give Uncover Scotland 10 Stars if we could, don’t try to do this visit alone as you will miss so much. Uncover Scotland is trustworthy, thorough, safe and knowledgeable.
Thank you for your reviews, it is very much appreciated and I’m delighted to hear you had a fabulous time touring with us.
Absolutely incredible experience. My wife and I visited the UK for vacation and spent our final few days in Scotland. We have done several tours like this in a number of countries, and Ricky was the best guide we’ve ever had. His knowledge and passion for history were amazing, and it was just a joy to spend the day with him filled with incredible sights and stories. We enjoyed staying in Edinburgh, but taking a day-trip out of the city was the highlight of our trip. The natural beauty of the highlands was almost unreal at times. Being on a private tour gave us the opportunity to explore and see some areas that the large bus tours can’t even get to, and the trip was personalized around us which made it extra special. We honestly could not have asked for a better experience, and I cannot recommend this tour enough. Our guide was phenomenal, the tour company was communicative (I booked with them directly) and everything was on-time and as-promised. We are already planning a return visit so we can do one of Uncover Scotland’s multi-day tours.
Thank you for your review, it is greatly appreciated and I’m delighted to hear you had an excellent experience touring with us.
An excellent day tour of the highlands. The weather was exceptional and Alex was amazing. He provided extensive info about the places we visited and kept a lively conversation throughout. He even took us on small but fantastic detour to Innis Bhuidhe. His knowledge of Scottish history was very helpful and entertaining. Would definitely recommend and perhaps do a longer tour on a return visit.
Thank you for your review. I’m glad you all had a great time with us. I hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Scotland and we hope to see you again soon.
Three top takeaways from this trip: 1. Ask for Alex, he’s a great guide! 2. Yes, the Coos are worth the trip! 3. It’s simply a beautiful tour! My wife and I took this excellent 1 Day tour from Edinburgh to Glencoe and back in mid March. The weather was cool, some clouds here and there, but the history and the beauty of the scenery made up for any lack of sunshine. Alex, our tour guide, was the perfect driver and guide for the day. From the moment he smoothly moved us out into Edinburgh’s morning traffic to the drop off at the end of the day at our agreed hotel - he provided us history, stories and personal experiences that made the tour special. The history was interesting, the view as we climbed up into the Highlands was simply breathtaking. The photo opportunities were many and Alex made sure we stopped at the best points along the way, tying each photo into the story of the people, the land and how the two came together to make Scotland the country it is today. From Highland Coos, across the otherworldly landscape of Rannoch Moor, a stop to see the deer at the Kingshouse and a brief side quest to Hagrid’s House the day quickly swept by and we were soon at the Glencoe Visitor Center. There we stood beside a lone turf and creel house, looked down the valley of the long lost MacDonald’s and wondered that such a terrible fate could befall those who lived in such beauty. On our way back we made a side tour to the Falls of Dochart and were captivated by the falls and the otherworldly entrance, which stand in ruins, to the Clan MacNab Burial Grounds. From the falls, Alex made sure we arrived at the Kelpies just as the sun slipped through the clouds and illuminated their silvery hides with a soft yellow light. There’s no photo that can beat standing there beneath the giant Kelpies as the last rays of day slip into evening. Perfect ending to a perfect day. Thanks Alex!

My girlfriend and I embarked on a day tour through Scotland, and it was an unforgettable experience! Our guide, Ricky, was fantastic—punctual, professional, and absolutely personable. He made us feel at ease right from the start and truly showcased his passion for Scotland. Ricky’s extensive knowledge brought the history and culture to life, and he was incredibly flexible, tailoring the itinerary to suit our interests. From the stunning landscapes to hidden gems, every moment was a delight. As first-time visitors to Scotland, we couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to this beautiful country. The day was filled with breathtaking sights and engaging stories, and I can't recommend this tour enough. If you're looking to explore Scotland with a knowledgeable and amiable guide, Uncover Scotland Tours is the way to go! Thank you, Ricky, for making our day so special!

We had a great day touring out to the Highlands from Edinburgh with Alex. The ride was so comfortable and he was a wealth of information about all the sites we visited, we really enjoyed hearing about the history and folklore of the area. The weather was typically Scottish, but we didn't mind and the views were incredible. Highly recommend this as a day trip through the countryside.
