This is a great opportunity to get to see Stonehenge and Oxford. Our tour guide (Louise) had a lot of recommendations for London and sites to see on Oxford. However, this is ALOT of driving time. About 6 hours of this tour is in a bus. And, this is not a guided tour at all. Once you get to the locations, you are on your own.
This tour was informative and very enjoyable. Trish (Tour Group Leader) was friendly and very knowledgeable about Stonehenge and Oxford. Luke the Driver drove us there and back very safely. I would take another tour with Trish and Luke.
Good tour but we stood in line to get on the shuttle to get out to Stonehenge & back for most of our allotted time there. We left late waiting for a couple people in London and those minutes mattered....
Sorry to feel you left late , but sometimes we give passengers an extra few mins to get to bus in the morning just about 5 mins. We do our best for all passengers. You would have still have got your time at Stonehenge , like the full amount of time. Shuttles can be busy but passengers are usually not waiting too long and shuttle can take a lot of passengers at once.
Not for anyone with interest in history. Very rushed at Stonehenge, only had enough time to snap a couple of photos and get back in the bus. No time to even enter the museum. Oxford was ok. Bus seats are for children, tiny and extremely uncomfortable. Guide (Louise) clearly knows zero British history. Stumbled over the pre-prepared speeches. Gave a ton of incorrect information (e.g. William was king in 1791, was George III). Appeared more familiar with where to eat in London than any other topic. She should be on tours for food or shopping, not history. She made several disparaging remarks about the monuments as well. Far out of her depth. This tour was very low level compared to others I’ve done in the same areas. Would not go with this company again.
Sorry to read that you felt rushed. All tours get 2 hours at Stonehenge so there was no need for you to feel rushed. We will have a word about the history aspect noted.
I would have expected more for the money value.
Although the tour was interesting, I found the guide a bit discouraged and distant from the group; I have had better experiences in the past.
I have limited time in England and my companion REALLY wanted to see Stonehenge. I debated trying to arrange our own trip in order to save money. I truly feel like our guide and trip that I selected actually saved us money. Our guide, Giles, had a lot of great information about affordable options on our day trip and after. In addition, it was stress free. Nothing on vacation ever feels stress free, as I’m always the one planning everything. I am glad we selected the day to Stonehenge and Oxford. Any more activities would be too short of time, and only doing one feels like we would have missed out. While in Oxford we had time on our own to do what we choose. We toured St John college and the museum, both for free, in addition to the stores, eating at the covered market etc. There is a near magical garden tucked away in St John’s beyond the courtyard. The museum had a lot of great artifacts and we enjoyed it a lot. Now that the rest of our trip is on me, I’m back to being stressed!
Tiger and Darren were great guides. Tiger had a lot of historical context and mode the trip enjoyable.
We are so glad we took this day trip. I definitely recommend combining Stonehenge with Oxford. Stonehenge on its own is a quick, busy, and touristy experience. Oxford was just magical. It makes us want to visit again on our own. Great tour, very educational, and fantastic tour guides!
There is a lot of walking on uneven surfaces, so wear the appropriate shoes. Take an early tour to avoid the crowds & have an umbrella handy!! Our Oxford tour guide, Amy, was very knowledgeable & I would highly recommend requesting her if possible. She has a great personality & lots of fun-filled stories to keep you entertained & interested.
