La Maison de la Vierge Marie est l'endroit où Marie aurait passé ses derniers jours. En effet, il se peut qu'elle soit arrivée dans la région en même temps que saint Jean. Ce lieu a été officiellement déclaré sanctuaire de l'Église catholique romaine en 1986, et depuis lors, il est devenu un lieu de pèlerinage très fréquenté. Le pape Paul VI s'est rendu au sanctuaire en 1967.

Éphèse est un site important pour le christianisme ; c'est l'une des sept Églises de l'Apocalypse. L'apôtre Paul a probablement passé deux ans et demi à Éphèse au cours de son troisième voyage missionnaire. Notre visite comprend l'Odéon, l'Agora d'État, le Prytanéion, le monument de Memmius, le temple de Domitien, la porte d'Hercule, la rue des Curetès, le temple d'Hadrien, les Latriens, la bibliothèque de Celsus, la Voie de Marbre, l'Agora commerciale, le Grand Théâtre et l'Arcadine (rue du Port).
D'anciennes villas résidentielles somptueuses, construites selon le plan d'Hippodame, où les rues se croisent à angle droit. Les maisons sont ornées de dessins représentant des gladiateurs, des caricatures et des animaux, ainsi que de graffitis comportant des noms de personnes, des poèmes et des déclarations d'amour. La visite des « maisons privées » (ce qu'on appelle les maisons closes, ou « Terrace Houses ») est une activité facultative moyennant un supplément de 25 ₺ par personne ; veuillez en informer votre guide à l'avance.
Après le déjeuner, nous poursuivrons la visite du temple d'Artémis, qui compte parmi les sept merveilles de l'Antiquité. C'est également l'occasion idéale de prendre des photos de l'église Saint-Jean et de la mosquée d'Isa Bey sous leur meilleur angle.
Un vieux village situé sur les collines de Selçuk, réputé pour sa production de vins aux arômes de fruits et ses maisons traditionnelles. Elle fut autrefois habitée par les « Rum » (Grecs byzantins), qui furent échangés contre des Turcs originaires de la Grèce continentale à la suite du traité de paix conclu après la guerre d'indépendance turque.

We had a great day trip to Ephesus with Huray as our guide. She was so lovely and made the history really interesting with her detailed but easy-to-follow explanations. We also liked that she showed us some local businesses along the way, which gave us a better feel for the area and its culture. The whole tour was well organised, and Huray was friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to answer any questions. We’d definitely recommend this tour!

1. This is not a private tour as advertised, but a small group tour 2. It states you can organise to go to terrace houses at Ephesus, but this was not actually possible 3. The tour of Ephesus archaeological park is rushed because you get to spend a lot of time with over-priced rug, oil, sweet sellers
