Not recommended

Unfortunately, we didn't like the tour at all. The transfer went without any problems. Arriving in the city, there were suddenly hundreds of people there who were being divided up among various tour guides and ships. Everything felt like a mass processing operation. Unfortunately, the ship was not recommended at all either. The trip lasted approx. 1.5 hours (it swayed a lot, the crew can't help that), the benches were more than uncomfortable, it was mega hot, little shade... Unfortunately unbearable on the ship. The crew didn't say a single word. You were sitting there packed in tight like on a cattle transport. Arriving at the island, you were led through the city and everything was promoted (restaurants, ice cream parlor, monastery, etc.). That felt a little like a sales tour to us. After that, we then had 1.5 hours of free time in the city. And after that, we went by bus (20-30 minutes) to the crater. There, in turn, we had 25 minutes of free time. But it was also completely sufficient, because it was simply unbearably hot there. After that, another 20-30 minutes to the ship, then 1.5 hours back by ship, and then the transfer back to the hotel. Not recommended for us. More time for unbearable transfers than anything else. The pickup from the hotel was positive, as was the fact that all the people were divided into tour guides speaking different languages.

Nice to visit the Nisyros crater, but an exhausting excursion.

We booked this excursion through Tripadvisor because of its 4.6 rating, and our satisfaction was bittersweet. The organization works, but the services are in old transport vehicles, and most are without air conditioning or it only half works, so we were very hot. The positive part is the guides, who are professional and experienced. Congratulations. The experience was as follows: Instead of a hotel pickup, they picked us up at 8:10 AM at Dolphin Square in Kos, a 7-minute walk from the hotel. 45 min. by bus to the departure port. The bus drops us off in the town and we have to walk 8 minutes to the departure boat. The distribution was well organized, but they made us board a boat with a different name than the one specified on the voucher. There is no problem with that because they go to the same place, except that it is an older boat and it takes 1h and 30 minutes to reach the port of Nisyros. If you want shade, there is an indoor area, but in August we were very hot, especially on the return trip. Here, 1h of the visit is already gone, which is not on the island; it is spent on the boat. Our boat was the last one to leave the port. This meant that since we arrived last in Nisyros, they changed the order of the program. We had 2h and 15 minutes to visit the town, the monastery (€2/person cash only), and eat at 12:30 PM, because the bus to the crater left at 1:30 PM (they are punctual). The guide walks you around for the first 30 minutes and explains the town up to the central square and then to the monastery (for those who want to visit it). This meant we could not swim at the town's little beach, which was our plan before taking the boat back. The buses to the crater have insufficient air conditioning. 30 minutes of being hot. Beautiful views and the guide explains everything interesting about the island to us. The impressive crater. The 5€/person can be paid in cash or by card. There is a viewpoint where you can see the crater. Since we were the ones visiting it at 2:00 PM on August 14th, we found it without other tourists. Beautiful panoramic view without people. We went down to the center of the crater with closed-toe shoes and good soles, because the ground gives off heat and at some point you breathe the typical smell of sulfur. The volcano is worth the experience, but you have to suffer the quality of the transport, the heat, and having the order of the program changed on you. A "great" experience 🤗

Nisyros Island and the Volcano

Great day with the family!!!! Expect a 1-hour boat ride before arriving on this very pretty little island. The people are welcoming, and the prices in the restaurants are very affordable. The volcano is really a must-see and a must-do!! It's €5 for adults and free for children under 12. We can stand in the center of the Stefanos crater, really great!!! We have very fond memories of it. We went through the "Miranda Tour" agency and they were really great for the organization and the price.
