Too much free time

Lucerne is beautiful. U start off on a bus with a knowledgeable guide. When u arrive she brought us to a main area, pointed some sights then she leaves to take another tour somewhere and u r alone for SEVEN (7) hours. It’s way too long. We took a 1 hr boat ride ( just ok) , lunch, lots of snacks and luckily downloaded a walking tour so we had another hour of activities. Just take the train. It’s too much free time.

Sunday in Lucerne!

The drive was stunning, especially as we neared Luzerne. The informational flyer with suggested activities and map with clear meeting place was most helpful. We loved walking around just enjoying the beautiful location and the melding of people from around the world all enjoying a shared experience even though we didn't know any of them. After spending 2 hours cruising on the lake we had a luxuriously long and delicious lunch at Hotel Des Alps, right next to the Chapel Bridge. Even though it was a Sunday and most everything was closed, we filled our day with memories forever.

Beautiful Lucerne

A lot of walking beautiful views boat ride on the lake is worth the sites. Shopping and food are also great. A train ride back to Zurich was a faster more picturesque experience.

The bus tour with stops...

The bus tour with stops going to Lucerne was great. My wife really loved the mesmerizing green Swiss landscapes. We had lunch by the river bank, the ambiance was stunning, the food was great, our server from the Philippines was very professional.

Not worth it!

Glorified taxi service from Zurich to lucerne. Tour is in English and Spanish so always feels like you’re missing out on something. Got some interesting facts on the drive there but hard to keep up with the language changes. Once we got to lucerne was a 10-15 min walk from the bus stop to the centre but didn’t get any commentary on the way at all. When we stopped we didn’t get told any info about lucerne either so wasn’t really a walking tour we were promised. Also didn’t realise that there was an option on this trip to go up to one of the mountains so most people were doing that and only had less than an hour in lucerne which didn’t allow much time to ask the tour guide for suggestions or anything. Not worth it at all, might as well just get the train back and forth. Would not recommend this lucerne day trip at all!

Dear Victoria, Thank you for participating on our Lucerne day Tour from Zurich and for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience. Please note that this is a partially-guided tour. As outlined in the Viator description, the time in Lucerne is intentionally left unguided to give guests the flexibility to explore at their own pace. To support this, we provide a detailed booklet with sightseeing suggestions, local tips, and optional activities such as a lake cruise or museum visits. Our guide is also available in Lucerne to answer any questions. Afterward, the guide continues with the group for the fully-guided portion to Mount Titlis. Lucerne, like many destinations in Switzerland, is also accessible by train. A return ticket costs CHF 54 per person without a Swiss Pass, while our tour is only CHF 8 more. This price reflects the added value of being accompanied by a guide who is available to assist with questions and logistics. Many guests appreciate this support, as navigating public transport in a foreign country can be challenging. We understand that a more flexible itinerary may not suit everyone, and we're sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations. For those looking for a more structured day, we offer fully-guided tours across Switzerland, which may be a better fit for your preferences. We wish you all the best for the rest of your travels and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again to one of our fully-guided tours. Best regards, Magdalena from Best of Switzerland Tours

Just what we needed

Great experience if you really just want a direct ride from Zurich to Lucerne. We just needed a ride to the city so we could do our own exploration. The guided part was perfect. Not too much not too little. We learned about the history of Switzerland and got the right amount of interesting information. We recommend this tour.

Lucerne

I would not recommend this tour if just wanting to see lucerne as you have to wait for bus at 6pm to leave after being here all day, best catch train from Zurich and come and go when you want to at your own time and not wait for a bus that is coming back from Titlis

Dear Athena, Thank you for joining our Lucerne – Most Charming Town tour and for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to hear that the tour didn’t fully meet your expectations. We understand that some guests prefer more flexibility in their schedule, and for those guests, taking the train is indeed a convenient option. A return train journey from Zurich to Lucerne costs CHF 54, while our tour is only CHF 8 more, and includes the guidance of a professional tour guide from Zurich to Lucerne and back, as well as an informative leaflet with recommendations on what to see and do in Lucerne. This way, guests can enjoy a hassle-free journey and the town with expert insights and have a point of contact for any questions or guidance during their visit. We hope that, despite the fixed schedule, you were still able to enjoy your time in Lucerne, and we wish you a wonderful rest of your stay in Switzerland.
