Great day in Luxor

A very enjoyable trip. Both guide, and driver were very professional. I was allowed to visit the sites at my pace. I appreciated the knowledgeable answers to my questions. Everything was very seamless. I would recommend.

Could have been a great day!

★★★★☆ I had a good overall experience with Emo Tours, but there are several reasons I can’t give them 5 stars. The employees I interacted with were polite, prompt, and professional, but the company itself seemed disorganized. I booked my trip in October 2025, and my tour was in May, so there was more than enough time to properly plan and purchase the correct flight tickets. I had to reach out to the company the day before my tour to request my tickets and itinerary, and I did not receive the documentation until around 9 PM the evening before the trip. Since this day trip includes a flight and the tour is non-refundable, there is really no reason flights should be booked or finalized at the last moment. They also asked for my passport information several times, even though I had already submitted it. That felt like poor planning on their part. Another issue was that they advertised a business class flight, but my flight was economy. Again, because I booked months in advance, there was sufficient time for them to purchase the correct class of tickets. Luxor itself was very interesting and absolutely worth making the trip. The tour itself was private, so it was just my sisters and me, which we enjoyed. Our tour guide, Sam, met us in Luxor and was very knowledgeable. He explained a lot of important information before giving us time to explore on our own. He also offered to take photos of us, which was a nice touch. Sam had all of our tickets purchased in advance, so we were not waiting in lines, and that made the day run smoothly. The only thing I wish is that tour guides could accompany guests into the tombs so the experience could feel a bit more interactive. Lunch was not good. The food was lukewarm, which made it inedible. However, the restaurant was clean, and the staff were nice. It was really more of a place to rehydrate than anything else. After being out in the heat, I wasn’t very hungry anyway, but the meal itself could definitely be improved. Since my return flight from Luxor wasn’t leaving until 9 PM and the tour ended around 3 PM, they booked a complimentary hotel for us. I appreciated the gesture, but the room was extremely worn down. The bed covers had stains, all of the faucets were old, and honestly, the room looked like something out of a horror movie. I would have preferred to go straight to the airport instead. That said, the hosts at the hotel were hospitable, and they had a lovely rooftop restaurant overlooking the river, which was very pretty. When our driver came to pick us up, he wanted to make sure we had a pleasant stay. We assured him we were okay, and I appreciated his concern. I’m honestly saddened that I can’t review the company and the workers separately because the staff really did a great job. My morning greeter met me right on time, and when we returned to Cairo, our greeter was waiting for us, which was nice after such a long day. Our driver was also fantastic. Overall, the people made the experience enjoyable, and Luxor is definitely worth visiting. However, the company needs to improve its organization, communication, accommodations, meal quality, and make sure what is advertised matches what customers actually receive.

Great!

Flew to Luxor from Cairo for an all day tour. Our guide, Ahmed Omar, and the driver Hossan did a great job. Ahmed was friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

Too rushed but maybe due to guide

Well organized and great. The four stars are due to Zachariah, the tour guide in Luxor. He rushed us so much and wasn’t letting us take pictures. We concluded later that it’s because he wanted to take us to souvenir stores, likely to get a commission on anything we buy, but it was unfortunate because he prioritized this over letting us enjoy and take pictures at the awesome locations in the tour. We felts super rushed everywhere besides at the stores he took us to.

Well-organized tour with great guide, but weak communication and food

Overall, we were satisfied with the excursion. We were picked up from the hotel at 3:30 AM and the driver was punctual. However, until the very last moment we did not know who would pick us up or what vehicle it would be, despite asking several times — including shortly before 3:30 AM. The communication definitely needs improvement. In Luxor, the driver welcomed us with a sign from Emo Tours Egypt. We were taken to all the scheduled places, but overall there was not enough time to truly enjoy each site. At the restaurant, we ate the food not because it was tasty, but because we were hungry. I would honestly prefer the tour to cost €615 instead of €600, but to include a genuinely good restaurant with quality food. The waiter greeted us wearing an extremely dirty shirt, stained with food and drinks, which made a very poor impression. The only thing that was actually good was the baklava. At the alabaster souvenir shop, we were asked $25 for a small candle holder. We did not buy anything there. Later, we bought the same items at Khan el-Khalili in Cairo for $5 each. We are truly grateful to the driver, Hossam Al-Aqsar — a very kind and professional person — and to the Egyptologist/tour guide Mohammed El Tahibe, who explained everything in great detail. Tip for travelers: buy your own water (it is cheap, around 10 EGP) and bring it with you. The three tombs in the Valley of the Kings are more than sufficient; the Tomb of Tutankhamun is very small and not worth it, as all artifacts are now in the Grand Egyptian Museum.

Meeting Luxor alongside Samar was an amazing and unforgettable experience! Thanks to his high knowledge of Egyptian culture and history I was able to understand the level of importance of these places. Her Spanish is super fluent and she is a very nice girl! . Thank you Samar! See you next time!
