Excursion d'une journée à la mine de sel de Slanic depuis Bucarest

Hearing Slănic salt mine is the biggest one in Europe, I searched and booked this tour because of its time frame matches my itinerary Meeting location: easy to 5 minute walk from my hotel Hilton garden in old town. I assume it would be a sign of Gray line It’s Universidate is a long big avenue We asked any one passing by, no one heard about this We ran into 2 persons who said they are tour guides but not Slanic salt mine . exactly at 8:30 am, a van with Grayline logo stopped to pick up my group During two hour drive, we had tour an audio tour and history of Bucharest The rest stop at a public gas station is nice, but it is crowded with long line at the public restroom. Luca store and it’s pastries looks great , I couldn’t buy anything bc too crowded and limited time (15 minutes ) Tickets are pre purchased by the company , getting on a shuttle drive through a tunnel and have a two hour walk Punctuation: good planning: 8:30 pick up by the curb , 11 am arriving, 1 pm leaving, ends tour at 3:30 pm ( heavy traffic on the way back to old town)

Our guide was great but I would not recommend this tour to anyone. It is a long drive to walk through a salt mine that is no longer functioning. Any displays that could educate you on the mine look like they were created by a grade 5 class in the 80s. The sole purpose of this long drive was for us to wander around and breathe in the healing salt air. Not what was advertised. There are way better ways to spend your time and money.

Worth the trip! Bring a sweater. Plenty of toilets in the cave. Entertainment for the kids. I'd go again.

The pickup point is sent when the ticket but is incorrect and i almost missed the bus if it weren’t for the very considerate driver and guide Christian who guided me and other travellers to the spot. Quite simply the directions must be given correctly and there would be a lot less stress and delays waiting for lost travelers. All they needed to say was go to the square, find the bustop and stand next to the statue of???? You will see a Starbucks and Burger King nearby. Christian was a very skilled and safe driver and gave us all headsets that provided really interesting information along the way. By the time we reached the mine most of the group were fast asleep but he made sure everyone knew what time to be back at the bus. He then escorted us to the bus that would take us into the mine but there were no instructions in English and no explanation from the driver of the bus down into the mine. Once we arrived we were left to fend for ourselves and there was no information on what to see or what to go. Disappointed with the mine itself which is presented more as a theme park and tourist attraction rather than giving information about the mine and there is graffiti on the walls which is very upsetting. The staff also didn’t know much about the mine and what to see. I’ve been in other salt mines around the world and this was a big disappointment even though the walls and cuttings theme were amazing.

We were picked up right on time at the meeting point. Our driver Christian was nice and knowledgeable. We had plenty of free time in the mine to visit at our own pace.

I don't remember our driver's name but he was absolutely great and our guide for the day was Rodica - an absolutely fabulous and super knowledgeable guide. She has the brain of an encyclopedia and is so funny as well. Our time in the mine was great, never felt rushed and I would highly recommend this experience to everyone who is considering it. The reason why we went with this service provider is because we didn't want to be with a huge group being herded like sheep so this was absolutely perfect. Thank you for the complete experience!

This was one of the coolest and most unique places I have seen in all my travels. I felt like I was navigating the Mines from Lord of the Rings. So cool! Highly recommend and is a must see!

Fantastic tour! Daniel was great! The meeting point directions need clarity because we mapped the address and it took us 15 min out of the way - the meeting point is at one of the large statues in University Square. We also thought Gray Line in the directions (name of the company) might be a bus queue line so this confused us as well. The cafe queue is long and rake up time so consider if you really need a snack.
