À quelques minutes en voiture du cœur de Nairobi, la ferme Kiambethu à Limuru offre un aperçu tranquille de la vie dans une ferme de colons. Situé à 7 200 pieds, Kiambethu a été acheté et cultivé par AB McDonell en 1910. Il était la première personne à cultiver, fabriquer et vendre du thé commercialement au Kenya - maintenant l'une des plus grandes exportations du Kenya. Cinq générations ont vécu à la ferme et il est actuellement dirigé par sa petite-fille Fiona Vernon. La ferme est située dans de beaux jardins entourés par des hectares de thé et de forêt indigène - maison du singe Colobus et beaucoup d'autres animaux sauvages.

Prise en charge à votre hôtel ou résidence dans le quartier central des affaires de Nairobi à 9h45 et départ en voiture pour Limuru, arrivée à 11h et thé autour d'un thé ou d'un café. thé dans le champ. Promenez-vous ensuite dans la forêt indigène avec notre guide résidant au Kenya, qui identifiera les plantes et leur expliquera comment elles sont traditionnellement utilisées. Observez les singes Colobus de plus près et promenez-vous dans les jardins qui abritent une grande variété d'oiseaux et de fleurs. Retournez à la maison pour prendre un verre avant le déjeuner sur la véranda avec une vue imprenable sur les champs de thé et les collines de Ngong. Profitez de votre menu buffet à trois plats de notre menu préparé avec des légumes du jardin et des desserts garnis de crème de notre troupeau de vaches de l’île anglo-normande. Plus tard, dépose à votre hôtel ou résidence dans le quartier central des affaires de Nairobi.

This tour was so beautiful and serene! My driver, Isaac was wonderful as well, he transported me safely to the tea farm, and on the way back to my hotel, was even kind even to stop at the road side markets at my request, so that I can make some purchases from the locals. I would highly recommend this excursion when in Nairobi, you won’t be disappointed!

The trip was perfect. We had a great driver with local knowledge. Once at the plantation, we could not stop the smiles. We experience the garden in full bloom, pleasantly cool weather, and greeting monkeys. The owners and staff were knowledgeable and friendly, and the food plentiful and savory. Best for adults and older children.

Such a fabulous day out, great to see a different side to Kenya so close to Nairobi. Fiona, Sarah and their team were so engaging and the tea tour was great and food and gardens amazing, you won’t be disappointed. Look out for the gorgeous monkeys and abundance of birdlife. Also highly recommend my driver Jane from Perfect Safaris. So informative on the drive there and back and varied the route so I got to see Nairobi. Her driving skills are pretty impressive too!

Had a great time at the tea farm. The owner gave some history about the farm, how to harvest it, and different types of tea. The estate is beautiful. The food was great. Stephen was my driver for today and he did great. He was very nice. If you are looking for a laid back day, I highly recommend this.

Such an interesting day - learning about tea production, exploring the beautiful garden and having a short guided walk through native forest. The visit ended with a splendid home cooked lunch, with many foods grown in the garden and water on the lawn. As I arrived early, my driver Stephen even took me for some extra visits on the way. Many thanks to out hosts at the tea farm and the guides and driver.

This day trip was excellent. We were met at our hotel on time and the drive out to the Tea Farm was very educational. The Tea Farm property was simply awesome and so beautiful. Fiona (the Owner) and her team welcomed us and made our visit very special. We learned so much about the property history and how tea is grown and processed. The lunch was excellent and I would highly recommend this day trip.
