Had an absolute wonderful tour with Matthew and his colleagues, driver did an awesome job navigating the windy roads, Matthew was a wealth of knowledge, downside was people being late to the bus and alas on another tour today and waiting in the heat for more people to arrive
It was a great experience and fun tour with Adolfo and Jose. Everything‘s organized and punctual!
It was a fun day trip. Lucerne is such an old vibe yet it was truly amazing! Engelberg is surprisingly fun to tour with. The village was so peaceful , not crowded. Our tour guide Angela and driver Jose were so good, very friendly and accomodating and informative
We loved our guide and driver, & we really enjoyed our time in Lucerne. Our only issue was with the Engelberg portion. We chose to stay in town (rather than go up into the mountains) and we ended up having over three hours to spend there. After lunch, (limited restaurants) we found that the town had very limited options—only about 10 shops, with maybe 5 or 6 even open. While Engelberg is beautiful, there simply was not enough to do for that amount of time. We eventually found ourselves sitting in a hotel lobby just waiting for it to be time to leave.
Dear Meryl, Thank you very much for joining our partially guided tour to Engelberg and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are sorry to read that the tour has not met your expectations. As stated in the tour description, this excursion includes around 3 hours of free time to explore Engelberg at your own pace. While it cannot be compared with a city, the little village of Engelberg has multiple activities to keep oneself busy; visit the picturesque Benedictine Monastery, opt for a walking route with views of the valley, or even hop on a TrottiBike Scooter and drive through the forest from the middle station of Gerschnialp down to Titlis valley station. We regret that you did not ask your tour guide for further recommendations to make the most out of your day. On another hand, we are happy to read that you enjoyed your time in Lucerne, and the performance of your tour guide and driver, and we will be happy to share your kind words with them. We hope that despite this, you were able to enjoy the overall experience, and hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you on another tour in the future, perhaps one that aligns better with your expectations. Best regards, Clara from Best of Switzerland Tours
Quick stop in Zurich could have been 15 min longer. We went to Engelberg only. Monastery great for fondue. Plenty of time for strolling around small town and shops. We were only 2 not to go up to Mt Titlis. Weather was cold late March with snow night before. Didn’t have time for additional 2.5 hours for Grendewald, Interlaken. Still 8 hours total but nice quick escape from Zurich while waiting for Basel cruise
It was convenient visiting Lucerne and Engleberg. Howver, I think it would have been perfect if the time allocated in Lucerne was a bit longer.
It was a very nice trip, well balanced, nice guides, beautiful sightseeing. Overall, very happy. Would highly recommend
Never ! never ! never book this tour . Read carefully before you book !!!!! It cheaper you go on your own . (half the price and you had more time to explored ) Angela the guide never tell you how and where to go . Angela just tell u what time to meet at the bus stop. In Lucerne ( time not enough) She just bring you to see the chapel bridge , (if you want to follow) when you got off the bus you need a rest room .She tell you where the rest room are ,but she will not organise and wait !!!!!!She will just walk with her flag and never give a break for rest room. So either you follow her or you go rest room in your own ! After you need to catch up or you are on your own like free n easy!!!! You see nothing . In Engelberg, she just give a map ,and all became free n easy again . Drop you at the point , remind you what time to be back , driver will be there at that specific time .This are the worst European trip I come across . It just like a transport service . Sorry to said This will be my last trip with Viator !! Bus have no wifi , no charger . Nothing at all only cold mineral water at the price of 2 Euro/Chf . Driver / guide don’t know how to take care customers. 80 % travellers onboard with the hot weather , the bus are still engine off . All travellers are fanning because it hot in the bus . This are basic customer services. Start the bus and let travellers had some sur conditions ( fuel are expensive yes ! But 20 minutes to start sir conditions for comfort to travellers that the main PR ) Very shameful- which they didn’t know !! Know how to sell cold water at 2 euro/Chf per bottle of 500ml . With A4 white paper clearing paste on the TV screen at middle of bus .
Dear Tan, Thank you very much for choosing our partially guided tour to Engelberg and for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are very sorry to hear that the performance of your tour guide, Angela, did not meet your expectations. Angela has been a valued member of our team for many years and regularly receives excellent feedback. That said, we will certainly share your comments with her so she can reflect on your experience and make improvements where possible. Please note that upon arrival in Lucerne, guests are given free time to explore the city at their own pace. While the guide accompanies the group to the Chapel Bridge, the remainder of the visit is designed to be self-guided. We are also sorry to read about the restroom situation. While it is not possible to delay the entire group for individual needs, we are sure Angela would have been happy to slow the pace or return to meet you had she been informed of the situation. Our guides are always there to support guests, and we regret that this was not your impression. As for the visit to Engelberg, upon check-in, all guests receive a comprehensive leaflet outlining the available activities during the free time. Our guides are always available for questions, and our office team is also reachable by phone for any assistance throughout the day. Regarding refreshments on the bus, we offer bottled water at CHF 2.–, which is lower than typical retail prices in Switzerland. However, guests are always welcome to bring their own water if preferred. We understand the discomfort you experienced due to the temperature on the bus. Unfortunately, it is forbidden by law to run the engine when the bus is parked, which means the air conditioning cannot be turned on until the bus is in motion. This regulation is in place to reduce emissions and protect the environment, but it means that inevitably the bus will heat up when the engine is not running. Lastly, we would like to clarify the value of the tour: a round trip by public transport from Zurich to Engelberg (without a stop in Lucerne) costs around CHF 80.–. Our tour is priced at CHF 76.– and includes not only transportation but also a stop in Lucerne and the support of a professional, multilingual guide, something many of our guests find worthwhile. We do hope that despite the challenges, you were still able to enjoy the beauty of Engelberg, and we hope to have the opportunity of welcoming you on another tour, perhaps one that aligns better with your interests. Best regards, Clara from Best of Switzerland Tours
We took the Lucerne and Engelberg day tour with a glimpse of Titlis Mountain. Our guide Adel was super wonderful and helpful. Our driver Jose was awesome. 5stars to both of them.
It was great! Our tour guide shared a lot of information on the drive. We had time to walk around on our own in Lucerne- just under an hour- and do some fun things in Engelberg while part of the tour went to Mt. Titlis. We enjoyed going at our own pace and eating, shopping and going for a toboggan ride in Engelberg!
