This was the highlight of our Vienna trip beautiful lake views along the way to Salzburg with an amazing destination we visited the gardens ‘Maria’ from the sound of music sang in and more like this, lifelong dream fulfilled! Also tour guide was excellent very informative and accommodating, worth every penny, even dropped us off at our hotel at the end of the trip! I would highly recommend this day trip if you’re in Vienna.
Absolutely the best experience! This was not just a ride. Robert ( the guide) was outstanding. He blended a mix of historic and cultural facts, with personal antidotes that kept the trip entertaining. ( not common with many guides) The iteration he inspired, had a group of silent strangers joking and laughing together by the trip back. Thank you Robert.
Salzburg is a must-see. Our guide was excellent, an Austrian-born and certified tour guide with a tremendous amount of knowledge of the entire region. He provided umbrellas and electronics. The van was very comfortable with a microphone, so all could hear. Enjoyable day overall, even though it rained.
Robert was an excellent driver and guide. Extremely informative and helpful. It was a long day but the beautiful Lake District and Salzburg were worth it.
Long day! Great way to see another part of Austria in a short amount of time but don’t expect to get much time to explore. Opt to grab quick snacks instead of sit down meals to save yourself some time to wander. Beautiful country side and gorgeous town but I need to go back again because it was just a fly through.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts! We’re glad you enjoyed the beautiful scenery and had the chance to experience Salzburg, even if only for a day. Our goal with this tour is to offer guests a comfortable way to discover Salzburg and the stunning lake region from Vienna in a single day. While there’s never quite enough time to see everything this wonderful city has to offer, we’re happy to hear it left you wanting to come back—that’s often the best compliment Salzburg can receive! And thank you for the tip about grabbing a quick snack—it’s a great suggestion for anyone who wants to make the most of their 2.5 hours of free time to explore. We hope to welcome you back to Austria again soon!
We had a great time in Salzburg. It was fun to see sights from “The Sound of Music” and we even got to visit a Biergarten. Beautiful stops in the lake region as well! Robert, our guide was very knowledgeable and happy to share stories and answer questions.
This was a great trip to Salzburg. Well organized and well guided. Would highly recommend. We started off going to Mondsee, where there was a church where the wedding scene from Sound of music. We had 20 mims there. Then we went to st gilgen, a village by the lake where Mozarts mother was born. We had 20 mins to there as well. We then went to Salzburg where we had a fairly thorough tour of the old city from the shopping streets to St. Peter’s at the base of the castle. We then had 2.5 hours of free time where we toured the church, had some original blue “morzat balls” that I think were better or at least distinctive from the red substitute. We had hot dogs and Sacher torte at the hotel Sacher there (yes, there is a branch of the famous hotel there too). Our guide was great and was able to keep up a lively commentary about Austrian history and culture despite not getting my much from us in terms of feedback or questions. The tour bus was comfortable, had charging ports and a high roof…which made the entire inside much more open and airy. This is not the case in other parts of the world and made the whole trip much more comfortable. All in all, we got what we paid for and it was a good trip.
Great tour. Relaxing. Josef is a very knowledgeable guide. The transport was very comfortable. Salzburg and nearby lakes are so beautiful. Time flew by.
Joseph was an excellent guide; I enjoyed his stories. The van was the nicest we've toured in while on this trip to Europe. However, I should've researched to know it was over 6.5 hours round-trip riding in a van on the freeway. It was hard to see many of the sites along the way because of the barricades on the sides of the road. The small villages and farmland we did see were beautiful as were the lakes we stopped at close to Salzburg. If I had to do it again, I would take the train to Salzburg and hire a guide in Salzburg. Joseph did show us some of Salzburg but it would've been nice to have the option of a local guide instead of just free time to roam around.
Our tour guide was masterfully versed on the region and Hapsburg history. If you are a fan of the Sound of Music, book right away! You are afforded a comfortable ride, and plenty of time to explore Salzburg, a beautiful town tucked in the Alps.
