This is a full day and most excellent. Check out the stained glass windows. The modern ones were blown out in WWI. The tour of Champagne region. The story of the limestone contribution is excellent. The tour ended in Hautvillers, the place where Dom Perignon lived and worked. He didn’t invent champagne, he improved the method. Brits were making sparkling wine at least 30 years earlier. But, it’s a good story.
Dear Aaron, Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We are delighted to know that you enjoyed every moment of your Champagne journey — from admiring the stained-glass windows in Reims to exploring the limestone cellars and discovering Hautvillers, home of Dom Pérignon. It is a joy for us to share these stories and experiences with travelers like you. At France Tourisme, our greatest pleasure is to create meaningful and memorable moments, whether it’s a sparkling day in Champagne or a cultural escape in another part of France. If you wish to continue exploring, we would be delighted to welcome you on our Loire Valley Castles day trip or a relaxing Seine river dinner cruise with breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower — two very special experiences that combine history, culture, and a touch of Parisian magic. We hope to see you again soon for another unforgettable adventure! Warm regards, Alice de France Tourisme
Guide was awesome. Only 5 of us and we really had fun. Deviated a bit and the 5 of us sat for lunch together. It was so nice to talk with others from different places.
Harry, our guide, was quite personable, energetic and enjoyable. However, we were surprised (and totally disappointed) when we did not tour the actual Maison Mumm Reims Cellars. The tour details stated, " . . . visit Mumm's Champagne cellars and learn about the harvesting and production process . . . ." If you are booking this adventure, simply be aware that (even though the tour mentions Mumm) you are not visiting the original Mumm Reims Cellars. We actually had a pleasant tour of just one of their 25 kilometers of small cellars (see photo) . . . Silly us, for ASSuming that we'd actually visit the historic bubbly site. Also be forewarned: Do not book your tour for a Sunday. Reims Cathedral is not fully accessible on days of worship. On a positive note: The visit to the Lighthouse of Verzenay was enjoyable, educational, and offered beautiful views of the many vineyards throughout the valley.
Thank you so much Lin for your feedback. We are sorry your experience didn't match your expectations and we appreciate you bringing this issue to our attention. The Mumm cellars visit is usually included in this tour but it seems it was unavailable that day which is why we chose the smaller cellar option. We will make sure to specify it if it happens again. We are glad to know you were still able to have a good time there and enjoyed our guide's company during the tour. Thanks again for your feedback! Have a lovely day, Christophe from France Tourisme
All parts were memorable and different. Enjoyed the Mumm tour and visit to lighthouse garden the most.
We had an excellent guide (Serge) who gave us a great day. He knows the region very well and he knows how to help us discover it wonderfully. We recommend him because he is attentive, professional, available and he has a good sense of humor.
We are very disappointed in this tour operator. We were 15 minutes late due to road closures all over the city from the bike race and we tried calling the entire time we were driving, which was 45 minutes and no one answered the phone-We also tried to contact them via chat. By the time someone finally answered the phone, the bus had just left. No one tried to call us even though they had our phone number and no one answered the phone and when she finally picked up she said, very rudely she wouldn’t stop the bus and we can’t be reimbursed because its considered a no show but it was not our fault and no one answered-if they had, they would’ve known we were only five minutes away at that time. We left our hotel 45 minutes to drive a mile and all the road closures were causing us to have to turn around everywhere. They kept 374.44 for something that was beyond our control, we left in more than enough time to make it if the streets would’ve been open, so be VERY CAREFUL when you book this. We were even willing to meet the bus somewhere.
Hello, thank you for your review. We are sorry to read your disappointment. All of our tours are timed, especially our group visits so we unfortunately cannot wait for late customers, especially when everyone else arrived early as asked. We understand your frustration with not being able to reach us, our agency is open every day from 9am which is why we couldn't answer before. We ask all of our clients to arrive early to avoid this kind of situations. We are really sorry but traffic in Paris is completely out of our control, and should always be taken into consideration when planning your transportation in the city. We understand you were not able to make it on time, unfortunately as stated on you reservation and on our terms of sales there is nothing we can do once the date of your reservation has passed. Don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any other questions. Have a good day, Christophe from France Tourisme
We took two wonderful tours with France Tourisme last week: the Loire Valley tour with Jean Pierre, and the Champagne region tour with Nicolas. Both guides were fantastic. There was no way we could have seen so much - in such an efficient way - on our own. Loire Valley would have been impossible to navigate and would have likely required a few days on our own. We could have taken a train to Reims, but we saw so much more being able to drive out into the hills, which was actually the best part. Everything was planned, timed and coordinated perfectly. It’s also great having friendly and knowledgeable guides to help learn more about the country and the areas. The Loire Valley tour was epic… a very busy day to see three very different castles. The Champagne tour felt more relaxed by comparison, but ended up being one of the highlights of our 8 day trip. Great experiences all around.
This tour was amazing with fun-packed and educational activities! Our tour guide Serge was clearly passionate about what he does and did a great job introducing us to the beautiful history of Champagne. We were in a small group that made the tour a lot more enjoyable as well. I was initially hesitant due to the lower cost and small number of reviews but quickly dispelled my doubt once the tour started. We had an awesome day!
Absolutely fantastic trip! Serge - the Gide is one of the best with plenty of knowledge of history of France, kings life, architecture, arts, etc. His knowledge of Champaign region is unbelievable. Unforgettable trip. Thank you!!
The middle of January is certainly low season, but our driver made the best use of our time. Pleasant, efficient driver who made it a lovely, easy day. The Reims cathedral was inspiring, but we wish more of the shops had been open for souvenirs. We had a great tour of the Martel cave in Reims with a lovely tasting. The next stop was Epernay for a second tasting; less charming than the Martel site, but great champagne. The Avenue de Champagne was a special detour to see the impressive, row of houses of Champagne. This visit was followed by lunch on our own, and then a brief stop in Hautvillier and the Abby of St. Peter. Through the the day, the driver gave us good information about history of the area, even pointing out WWI cemeteries of British and German soldiers. Overall a good tour for a good value; we would have liked more communication from the tour operator to prepare for the trip.
