My tour guide Mr Nemai was very kind and helpful. He provided great information and although I was traveling alone he made sure I was comfortable and tailored the entire experience to my needs. The temples and the silk factory were incredibly interesting and a must see while in Kolkata
The road to Bishnupur is very rough through Arambagh and traffic will be a challenge from central Kolkata, especially returningadter 5pm. Once you get near Bishnupur, the trip really improves. The drive through the Joypur Forest is beautiful and gets you in the right frame of mind to visit the temples. We had a small car which could navigate through the small streets and didn't take scooter tuktuks. Our Viator guide, Sauvik, and driver were very knowledgeable as was our local temple guide. The temples themselves are beautiful and the artistry of the terracotta work is to behold. We visited the Ras Mancha, the Jor Bangla Temple, the Lalji Temple, and Radhashyam Temple. To see all of the temples requires an overnight stay. The key was to get a very knowledgeable local temple guide and we got an excellent guide who described in detail the intricacies of each temple including historical dates, construction features and details. The tour included all expenses for the local temple guide as well as a lunch meal and tea along the way there and back. The tour also included a stop at a local Baluchari sari production unit where you can see the craftsmen making the saris using handlooms. There is a sari shop there, as well, with an excellent selection of local saris.
Excellent tour with highly knowledgeable guide Mr.Ghosh and our skilled driver Saikat. We appreciated great temples in Bishnupur and also opportunity to see manual manufacturing of sari. Due to their welcoming and helpfull attitude this tour was a highlight of our visit in India. Thank you!
We had an excellent day with Anirban. The temples were impressive and worth the trip. Lunch was good, and other stops for chai and sari weaving added variety. Anirban added context. Definitely a nice way to spend a day out of the city.
Great experience, great guide and no rush. Anirban was very knowledgeable and explained us well about Kolkata and Bishnupur. It was a real delight and no jumping from one site to the other, just slowly and adapted to our pace.
Long drive. Great driver and Anirpur was a great guide. Might not be worth 4 hours drive each way for some but interesting people scenery along the way. Roads not great much of the way. 5Senses was very professional, efficient, responsive.
Bishnupur trip that I took yesterday was wonderful and an eye opening. Though the trip to the town was arduously long but it was worth it being given the opportunity to engross into the great Bengali past glory. I thoroughly enjoyed the cultural and educational tour. My tour guide, Mr Akbishek, was a great company and a knowledgeable mentor. He could relayed well to me on the history of Bishnupur and the various places of interest including the hand loom and pottery cottage industries. Not to mention, the driver who took us around was not only a careful driver but a joyful one as well. He talked non stop throughout the journey to keep our spirit up. Overall experience was great and beyond my expectations.
Our tour-guide, Bratati, was very polite, friendly and helpful. She explained everything in a lovely manner and took us to different places and gave us knowledge about Bengali/Indian culture, history, religion, and society. We had a lovely lunch with great Indian food. Despite the heavy rain, Bratati managed to show us everything and took well care of us. The contrast with our stay in Kolkata was huge, so it was lovely to see so many things in just one day. We surely recommend this trip!
This was a long day but an amazing one. Abhishek took us first to Bishnupuir where the temples made of terracotta were outstanding. We then also saw a weavers village where people were making silk sarees using hand looms. This was the highlight of the day. We also saw some beautiful pottery being done. Abhishek was very knowledgeable and friendly. We had a fantastic day. Highly recommended.
The tour to Bishnupur with Abhishek was really wonderful! It was a very long drive due to traffic but interesting scenes of everyday life along way. Abhishek was very well informed about the history, architecture and iconography of the temple. We also visited the homes of 2 handloom Weavers who weave traditional silk saris with a wide variety of colors and motifs. I was given a fascinating demonstration and explanation of the process. Since I am A textile collector, I bought a lovely silk stole- no pressure to buy. I highly recommend this trip with Five Senses, especially the private tour, a great lunch included with Abhishek as your guide.
Thanks so much for taking time out for this review. It was our pleasure hosting you on the tour of Bishnupur to Terracota temples and Silk Weaving. I am glad Abhishek managed to customise this to your interests.
