L'oasis historique de Liwa se trouve à l'extrémité nord du Rub 'Al Khali (le quartier vide) - le plus grand désert ininterrompu du monde. Liwa Oasis bénéficie d'une nappe phréatique proche de la surface et qui soutient l'agriculture et l'élevage depuis des générations. Cela crée un contraste spectaculaire dans le paysage entre les palmeraies vertes et les hautes dunes de sable rouge orangé. L'oasis de Liwa s'étend dans un arc est-ouest sur plus de 100 kilomètres et présente certaines des plus grandes dunes de sable du monde, dont beaucoup s'élèvent à plus de 150 mètres de hauteur. Les voyageurs peuvent déjeuner en pique-nique au milieu de l'Oasis.
Situé dans la majestueuse région d'Al Dhafra à Abu Dhabi, Tel Moreeb est considéré par beaucoup comme la plus haute dune de sable du monde, à plus de 300 mètres de haut, avec son inclinaison de 50 degrés qui en fait une destination de choix pour les amateurs de sports mécaniques.

The Liwa desert was amazing – endless dunes and really peaceful. The 4x4 dune bashing was fun, and the stops for photos and the oasis made it feel like a proper escape from the city. It’s a long day, but worth it if you want to see the real desert.
Once the dunes appeared, especially Moreeb dune that golden light, rolling sand, quiet sky...it felt like stepping into another world. Just plan for a long day, travel prepared, and let yourself slow down when you can.

The dune bashing experience was wild and thrilling! Our driver was skilled and made the whole ride feel like a rollercoaster — up and down the towering dunes with the sand spraying across the windows. I couldn’t stop laughing (and screaming a little!). It was the perfect balance of adrenaline and awe. One of the best parts of the day was stopping at the top of one of the highest dunes and just… being silent. No cars, no noise, just the wind and the sheer vastness of the desert.
