Visitez le château de Guimarães, un bâtiment chargé d'histoire et le "berceau du Portugal". Abritant un château du Xe siècle et le palais des ducs de Bragance, la ville est aujourd'hui fière d'avoir été nommée capitale européenne de la culture pour 2012. Appréciez, lors d'une visite à pied, la cité médiévale de Guimarães. Avec de petits détails modernes, il est considéré comme un site du patrimoine mondial par l'UNESCO. Notre premier arrêt sera Braga, la capitale du Minho, puis nous découvrirons la ville historique de Guimarães. Préparez vos appareils photo et venez avec nous explorer deux des villes les plus importantes de l'histoire du Portugal! Braga est une ville située à l'extrême nord du Portugal, au nord-est de Porto. Il est connu pour le patrimoine et les événements religieux. À l'est, le complexe Bom Jesus do Monte abrite une église néoclassique perchée dans un escalier complexe de 17 étages. Dans le centre-ville, la Sé de Braga de style médiéval abrite un musée d'art sacré et la chapelle des rois de style gothique. À proximité, l'imposant palais de l'archevêque surplombe le jardin de Santa Barbara.
L'un des plus grands moments forts de cette tournée. Célèbre pour ses escaliers sans fin et ses détails baroques, cet endroit va vous impressionner! Non seulement un monument religieux, c'est aussi un endroit vraiment romantique et reposant avec une vue imprenable sur Braga. Ici, la nature est privilégiée et protégée avec le plus grand soin.
La magnifique cathédrale de Braga (également connue sous le nom de cathédrale de Braga), un monument qui combine trois styles différents: roman, manuélin et baroque. C'est la plus ancienne cathédrale du Portugal - elle a même été construite plusieurs décennies avant la fondation du pays! Sans aucun doute, cette imposante cathédrale est le plus grand monument de Braga.
Après le déjeuner à Braga, nous partirons pour Guimarães, lieu de naissance du Portugal et du patrimoine mondial, depuis 2001. Guimarães est un véritable exemple de l'évolution d'une ville médiévale à travers l'histoire! C'était la ville où est né le premier roi du Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. L'histoire de Guimarães est liée à la fondation de l'identité nationale et de la langue portugaise.
Symbole national du Xe siècle. De l'extérieur, sa structure médiévale est impressionnante; A l'intérieur, vous pouvez avoir une vue magnifique sur la ville. Ensuite, nous continuerons à passer par le palais des ducs de Bragance et à visiter l'église de São Miguel.
Observez l'imposante statue de D. Afonso Henriques et traversez la place Martins Sarmento. Pour terminer cette courte promenade, découvrez la rue Santa Maria, la mairie, la place Santiago et l’église Senhora da Oliveira.

Our guide was Felipe and he was amazing — very kind, knowledgeable, and polite. He had a wonderful sense of humor and made us laugh throughout the tour. Raquel was a wonderfully engaging guide and driver for this amazing tour. Her knowledge of the local area was exceptional, and we had a brilliant day. Our first stop, Bom Jesus was stunning with ample time to descend the steps and make the climb back to the site, as well as visit the magnificent church and surrounding parkland. Braga is an amazing city, vibrant and the perfect mix of history and shops/eateries. If you get a chance, do visit CorriQueijo for cheese tasting! Guimarães, the final stop, is filled with history and charm. I would highly recommend this visit and if you are lucky enough to have Raquel as your guide- you will have an exceptional day!

My wife and I were joined by two French speakers and to our surprise, our Portuguese driver & tour guide was able to effortlessly speak to us in both languages! I did not catch her name, but our tour was on time, driving and narration were great and she gave us enough free time to explore things on our own in both locations. Top notch.

We were taken through the Duoro Valley winery tour by Maria Marabuio today. She has a wealth of knowledge about the vineyards. A true local of the area and a wonderful person to be around for the 10 hour tour. Great places to visit, great food and great wine tasting locations. Cannot recommend Maria enough.

Overall and excellent trip to Braga and Guimaraes to see all the highlights and have enough time to explore each city. Both cities were beautiful and a must see. Our guide José was very knowledgeable and looked after us, but my hearing was not great and could not follow the explanations when there was background noises. Main area for improvement is the confusing information- the ticket said the operator was Citirama/Greyline but it was actually operated by Living Tours. The meeting location also changed but because the company name did not match it was confusing.
