Rebecca and Chena Hot Springs Tour

Rebecca was our driver and guide for the day. She picked us up promptly, was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout the day. She was AWESOME!!! The Chena Hot Springs were restorative prior to long trip home, the restaurant could accommodate my gluten allergy, and the Ice Museum was a special added bonus.

Disappointed Booked hot springs and ice tour with First Alaska Tours one cancelled expect reinbersement

Disappointed with First Alaska Tours. Booked a hot spring and ice tour and only had half the tour as the ice tour was closed. Driver said she would call, but had no information about getting reimbursed for our cancelled half of the tour when we returned. We also had no guiding at the location and missed the free geothermal tour because we were not advised about it. Recommend the Chena Hot Springs, but do NOT recommend First Alaska Tours.

Réponse de l'opérateur

Hi Jennifer, We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the Ice Museum closure. Upon arrival, your guide was informed that the Ice Museum had overheated and was temporarily shut down. The staff were attempting to get it operational again for a later time slot, and your guide worked with them in an effort to get your group accommodated. The geothermal tour remained available during your visit and was offered as an alternative activity. Our guides are not responsible for processing refunds, as their role is to conduct the tour and assist guests throughout the experience. However, your guide did inform you that our office would follow up regarding the situation, and we did issue a refund for the Ice Museum portion of your tour. During the trip to and from the Hot Springs, the guide provides commentary and information about the area. While at the Hot Springs, their role is to ensure guests know where to go, what activities are available, and how to make the most of their visit. Guests are welcome to explore on their own if they choose, and the guide always lets everyone know where they will be located so they can be easily found at any time should assistance be needed. We appreciate your understanding and hope you were still able to enjoy your visit to the Hot Springs. Thank you for sharing your feedback.

Northern Lights display did not disappoint!

We started our tour with pick up at 5:00 pm from our hotel. Our tour guide/driver was Tanner. He took us to the Chena Springs Resort where we did a tour of the Ice Museum with lots of ice sculptures and then my husband relaxed in the Hot Springs-too cold for me! The highlight of the evening was when Tanner took us to an amazing spot to see the Northern Lights! We got to see the ribbons dancing with beautiful green hues filling the night sky. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Tanner did a fantastic job and I am so glad he was our guide. He was entertaining and very knowledgeable about the area because he is a native Alaskan. I highly recommend 1st Alaska Tours!

Meh

Not my favorite trip. It wasn't as impressive as I had built up before we got there. Daniel was a great guide, had a great time with the group, but wouldn't go again

A trip of a lifetime and a dream come true.

A trip of a lifetime and a dream come true. Paul, our tour guide, was beyond exceptional. His love of the aurora, knowledge of its forecasting, and skill of photography made this trip. We were blessed to get a G4 magnetic storm causing continual stunning aurora, in near perfect conditions: moonless sky, positive Fahrenheit temperatures, no wind. We had 3 beautiful substorm displays, dancing all over the sky. This would have been our first night to really see the aurora, and were reluctant to take advantage of the hot springs, for fear of missing the aurora. But Paul assured us it would not peak till later and we had a great time in the springs, and ice museum. He was so helpful to our photographic skills to capture the aurora. The Chena facility made the viewing even better, because you could go in and warm up between aurora bursts. This is a must do trip!
