Le parc national du lac Nakuru est situé dans la vallée du Rift,1 750 mètres au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Le lac Nakuru est un paradis ornithologique pour les ornithologues amateurs parce que le lac est mondialement connu comme le lieu des plus grands spectacles d'oiseaux sur terre, qui possède entre un et deux millions de petits et grands flamants roses qui se nourrissent des algues abondantes qui prospèrent au milieu des eaux chaudes du lac. C'est l'un des rares parcs qui ont été spécialement créés pour la protection des oiseaux, en particulier des flamants roses. Plus de 450 espèces d'oiseaux y ont été enregistrées. Vous traverserez la terre de la Vallée du grand rift au départ de Nairobi, tout en vous arrêtant en chemin par curiosité et pour admirer et vous émerveiller devant les vues à couper le souffle de l'escarpement sur la route. Vous arriverez au parc national du lac Nakuru à temps pour un safari en milieu de matinée. Savourez votre déjeuner pique-nique à votre guise. Pendant que vous sortez du parc, effectuez un autre safari du gibier et embarquez vers Nairobi.

Ce que vous pouvez attendre Vous êtes choisi à votre hôtel à 7 heures du matin et nous traverserons le sol de la vallée du Grand Rift depuis Nairobi, en nous arrêtant en chemin pour des curiosités, pour admirer et s’émerveiller de la vue à couper le souffle sur l’escarpement qui se trouve sur le chemin. Vous continuez pour arriver pour votre journée de safari autour de ce magnifique spectacle ornithologique du lac «rose» de Nakuru. Le lac abrite des millions de flamants roses, surnommé le «rose du lac Nakuru» parmi les 56 espèces animales différentes, y compris les félins, le lion noir, le guépard et le léopard parmi d'autres espèces fauniques comme le rhinocéros blanc et le buffle. À 13 h 30, vous déjeunez au lodge Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge qui surplombe ce grand lac ou égaré. Par la suite, à 15 heures, vous partez pour Nairobi et arriverez vers 18 heures.

We were informed the night before that they did not have enough people, so our trip was cancelled. Very disappointing! We did get our money back but missed out on the trip to Lake Nakuru National Park

We, as a group of two people, had an overall positive experience during the tour. Promptly at 6:30 AM, we were picked up in a small sedan. However, contrary to the advertised amenities, the sedan did not include water or WiFi for the trip. Fortunately, the driver was kind enough to make a stop at a gas station so we could purchase some water. We arrived at Lake Nakuru around 9:30 AM, where an additional entrance fee of $60 per person was required. We spent approximately two hours at the park but missed out on some attractions due to the limitations of the small sedan. We requested a transfer to a van with higher clearance to navigate the challenging terrains, but the driver ignored our request. Despite this, we weren't too upset as our main interest was seeing the rhinos and flamingos - which we saw. We departed around 12 PM and returned to Nairobi by 4 PM. It's worth noting that the driver solely fulfilled the role of a driver and was not a guide, thus there were questions he couldn't answer. For an additional cost, the park provided a guide. Although we were content with seeing everything we desired, considering the price we paid, our experience could have been better.

It was a very long day but well worth the investment. Our guide Erick had to find another route as part of the normal route was diverted. This however gave us the opportunity to pass through many small villages. He managed to get us there and back at a reasonable time and we have to say thanks to him especially. Lake Nakuru itself did not disappoint. Lots of wildlife and a beautiful setting. We would love to go back there for a few days, but have lots of good memories already.

The good driving to and from and the excellent bird and animal sightings. Particularly impressive were the large herds of zebra by the huge flocks of flamingos.
