What an exceptional experience! I booked the tour looking for something that was good value and not a tourist trap. Moraka Safaris completely exceeded my expectations. Everything was well organised, the food exceptional and wow did we see animals!! We saw the full big 5 except for a leopard. I come from South Africa where we have many game parks - this blew them all away.
We honestly did not have a great experience. I'm sure the tour itself is really cool but unfortunately we wouldn't know. Our safari jeep broke down on us just as we entered the crater and we were stuck for 4 hours before someone came and got us and drove us back out. I would be understanding of the jeep breaking down if it wasn't for the people in the car with us who were on the same safari the day before with the same vehicle and they said they had broken down the day prior as well and warned us upon arrival it was going to be an "interesting" day. The company needs to make sure their vehicles are updated before taking guests out. If it broke down the day before why would you send it back out? Those poor unlucky folks missed out on 2 days of safari. We wasted our entire day just sitting and the only animals we saw were in the tiny section we were in. Because of the delay we were back super late and missed our transportation to leave the city. Which the company did make sure we found another bus ride which was kind of them. But they still tried to justify that because we saw SOME animals we still had to pay full price for our safari even though we did not get the experience promised. We didn't explore any of the crater. We ended up serving up our own food while sitting there because we got so hungry and didn't know when lunch was going to be. We had no communication of what was going on the whole day. I'm sure this is a really great trip and the crater is really cool. But it needs to be managed completely differently. Also note, the 6 hour trip duration does not include the 4 hr drive there and back.
Much apologies for such an experience. Such situations do not happen that often. Unfortunately we failed to make an urgent rescue for the safari jeep because the information was sent late to the office. And this is the reason why we had to refund.. Much apologies once again
Amazing trip, Thank u to everyone behind this. ONE OF THE BEST DAYS EVER!. We saw the big five, and enjoyed our self so much.
We contacted the company last minute with a request of a private safari, and they were very flexible. Their price was also very competitive. Our driver-guide was professional, friendly and did his best to make the trip perfect. He even has brought very good binoculars which made animal sighting so much more enjoyable. No pushing at all for extra activities that we wanted to skip. We highly recommend them.
