Sadly, they didn't show up at the agreed point, after 1 hour more than agreed, I decided to leave on my own.
I personally had a great experience. We did not get a chance to visit the Museum due to time constraint, but we had enough time to take pictures of the Pyramids and Sphinx. Gigi offered to give us free camel ride, but the weather was so hot so after taking pictures with the Sphinx, we just wanted to go back to the air-conditioned bus. She then took us to an aromatheraphy and healing oil shop where we sample different scents. They served us a cold hibuscus drink which was very refreshing. We had lunch at Nile Crystal restaurant. I find it weird that their lunch is our dinner time. The food is okay. We then head to the Khan Al-Kalili where I got all my souvenirs and gifts for family and friends. Mohamed and our bus driver made sure we got back to Alexandria Port safe. We got back at around 1am since our tour started late. If there was one thing that I would suggest for future tours is for Gigi to make sure everybody can hear her especially if we are getting off a stop and for Mohamed or the driver to follow up with the people in the bus if they really don’t want to get off. When we went to the oil shop, some people thought we were just going for a bathroom break so they did not get off. This is a small hitch, but overall the tour was great. Gigi was wonderful. She even got my aunt cold medicine at a local pharmacy. She takes great photos too and Mohamed made sure I get a copy.
Hadeer was an excellent guide. She was very knowledgeable about Egyptian history. Thoroughly enjoyed it all. We felt very safe with her and the driver as we came from Alexandria to Cairo for the day.
The lady did not give us an opportunity to experience the museums yet we went to stores where she could have made more commission for a couple of hours. We first got the bus and knew museums were closing at 4 and that should have been our first stop.
We were very late in leaving. We were waiting for our friends but were told they were still coming off the cruise ship. This wasn’t the case they were put on a different bus tour us and we didn’t see them all day. We were on a small bus which was great our friends got put on a big bus and their experience wasn’t good. Our itinerary was changed to meet our time restrictions at the pyramids but we still had ample time to do the camel rides, take heaps of photos. Our lunch was at 6pm so make sure you take snacks on the bus and it was very hot 46.5 degrees Celsius. Take heaps of water or you can buy there with cash. The camel ride is an extra USD 20. Our guide Rina was amazing, she was very informative and caring towards the needs of everyone on our bus.
Small glitch on location of meeting the driver and vehicle could have been a bit more updated but still comfortable and excellent a/c for the long drive to Cairo to meet Sam. One bathroom stop along the way in a pretty nice place especially considering some restrooms in Egypt. Met Sam, what can I say? He's engaging and extremely knowledgeable with a great sense of humor. He made the day both fun and educational. Having a private van (at a lower cost than a bus) was perfect. Sam would call the driver when we'd be heading for a pick-up and away we'd go with no delay, no counting guests, etc. The pyramids were amazing as was the Cairo museum. Probably 90% of our group pics of our entire trip were taken by Sam who not only took us to the perfect photo op places but is adept at working all kinds of phones and his pics are the best of the trip. Our driver should be entered into the Daytona 500 as he demonstrated crazy skills in traffic in both Cairo and Alexandria - the drivers/pedestrians are insane. Overall an experience of a lifetime and Sam played an important part of this lifetime memory. Highly recommend!
Overall a great tour. Pick up location: directions around where you will be picked up could have been a little more descriptive for those who are not regular travellers. When saying meeting point is “outside the port”. You must walk over the bridge past the guard and meet your driver there. Once we figured out we had to go out of the port gates they did have the driver with a sign with our names so that was helpful. Tour: due to the long travel from Alexandrian to Cairo (3hrs), we found the tour to be a bit rushed trying to get in museum, bazar, pyramids and lunch. I would have preferred more time at pyramids. I do feel that our tour guide did a great job getting in all the history about all the sites in short period of time. If I were to do it again, I would potentially skip the bazar to give more time at pyramids. Also, for museum lovers - we only saw the highlights (due to the time constraints). If you are wanting to see everything in the museum you may want tell your tour guide so the spend the most time in the area that interests you. For us - the highlights in the museum was all we needed. Tour Guide: our tour guide Bilal was wonderful. At times (due to the pace) it was a bit hard to understand, however overall he did a great job! Driver: Our driver Ahmad was great. He was not fluent in English, however made effort to communicate with us for the entire trip by using google translate. We had many laughs on the drive! For the start review: I would have given a 5 - however in our opinion more time at the pyramids would have been best. The pace was a little fast trying to get in all the sites. I wonder if they should remove one of these from the itinerary in the future.
Wonderful guide and driver felt very safe and was able to do more than expected. Bilal spoke great English and was very well educated in they history of Egypt.
