Julian the tour guide was both informative and entertaining. I learned a great deal about Montréal, its history, buildings, parks, and event spaces. As the tour is narrated in both French and English and there's a lot to cover, Julian had to talk really fast. But he managed it! The tour bus stops aren't well signed but I was told that the government doesn't allow that.
I spent two days trying to find the right pick up stop. Signage is very poor. I called the hotline and overheard a colleague telling the associate that the stop she was recommmending was closed. The bus is old and dingi, and the stops are not marled. Very unappealing trip overal.
There no street signs that tell you where the stops are so we spent time trying to figure that out. Some of the busses are charter busses, not the rooftop busses as advertised. When we finally got on an open top bus, there was no A /C on the interior so it was really hot. Guides are knowledgeable tho and overall a quick way to get an overview of is the city.
Excellent tour, buses ran all day and we were able to get off for 2 hours and still have plenty of buses to get back to the city with. Worth getting off at the view point and exploring. Make sure to check in at the booth - we bought a ticket online but you still have to go and get it validated and a wrist band before you get on the bus.
The commentary from one guide, Michel, was very inappropriate and strange. Instead of just talking about the things on the tour, he added unneccessary remarks in regards to some personal things, politics, social issues, and poor singing. He must think himself funny, but he was not amusing. The air conditioning on one of the buses was not working, so it was very hot and humid inside. We did not want to sit on the open air top because of the sun exposure. The two other guides we had were informative and helpful.
We were unable to find the stop as there is NO signage. We walked around until we asked a concierge at a nearby hotel. The bus is supposed to come every 15 minutes. We waited almost an hour, in the pouring rain. We the bus stopped, we were told there we no seats available, but, we could sit on top. We found this unacceptable and asked for refunds ( 2 couples). Viator contacted the tour company and the refunds were denied. I do not like to leave poor reviews, but, this experience was terrible.
The tour allowed me to get on and off at my own pace, and take the necessary time to visit some sites.
This is good if the weather is perfect but absolutely miserable if it is raining. The lower level had minimal a/c so was nauseating hot, jammed full and had foggy windows so couldn't see any of the sights. The tour operators were all good and it is a good way to get an overview of the city.
Forget about finding the bus stops. They are unmarked. We walked around and around for an houri in pouring rain until we ran into someone who told us she had been searching all morning and pointed us to the right place. Then, a bus that was supposed to be every 15 minutes did not come for 50 minutes. Then we were told no room inside, go up to the outside. Again it was torrential. We refused and so room was made for us inside. But the windows were painted in some way and we saw absolutely nothing. We didn’t bother with the second day. Gigantic waste of time and money.
The guides are knowledgeable and give interesting historic facts. We forgot a bag on the bus when we hopped off, we called the main office who got the bag for us and it was waiting when we finished our tour. Everyone was kind and courteous.
