Our guides knowledge was amazing, but we would have liked to do more hiking. The wine tasting was not impressive but the restaurant itself is set in a lovely area.
Our guide was hugely informative about Etna and about Syracuse and Sicily, so the tour was great from that point of view. Please note though: this tour only takes you a little way up Etna - it does not take you anywhere near the top - we thought this should have been made clearer during the booking process. Also be aware that the tastings included in the tour do not constitute lunch. If you want that, it is an extra. It is not particularly expensive, but I think that people should be aware of this before booking. Despite these two caveats, it was a fun and interesting half day!
Salvatore looked after us from start to finish. His tour was lively , interesting and bespoke. He made the group feel at ease.
Easy connection and simple to make the reservation. We were picked up in siracusa for the ride to Mt Etna. Salvator Mario entertained us with stories of the volcano. We learned a lot.
A brilliant tour, very interesting and varied. Our guide was Eduardo, he was excellent, very knowledgeable and patient, with good English. There were just 4 of us on the tour, and we chose to hike around the lower craters rather than pay extra to go up the cable car. It was an interesting walk, quite challenging at times, walking uphill in deep black ash (like sand), but we never felt rushed, and Eduardo stopped lots of times to explain things we saw - aspects of the volcanic landscape, the history of Etna, the local flora and fauna, all sorts of things. After the hike, we drove in the minibus to a lava cave, where we were given helmets and torches to go down and explore, with Eduardo explaining how these caves were formed Our final stop was at a lovely vineyard/restaurant to sample wines and treats made locally, close to Etna. There was no pressure to buy anything (although we did as it was very nice!) All in all, a really enjoyable day, much longer and better than we were expecting. We'd highly recommend this trip to others.
Messed us around for several hours before eventually cancelling the booking. Wasted half a day waiting around for a pick up that never came. Didn't get to experience the one thing we came to Sicily for. Complete disappointment.
We deeply regret the inconvenience. Unfortunately, on that specific day the guide experienced an unexpected car issue, and we informed you as soon as we were made aware of the problem. The tour did take place later with the other participants, as communicated by our office, but we completely understand your frustration at not wanting to wait longer. Please accept our sincere apologies once again for the inconvenience. While unforeseen events can happen, we always do our best to minimize their impact on our guests’ experience. We regret that in this case you were not able to enjoy the activity you came for, and we hope you may give us another chance to welcome you in the future under better circumstances.
Amazing tour, we loved every minute of this once in a lifetime experience! Logistics were clear, the tour was informative and we met s lot of lovely people! Don't miss it!
There were just 6 of us on this trip and Federico was very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about the Mountain and the flora and fauna. He had an easy relaxed manner with a translatable sense of humour. He took his time with each member of the group making sure we understood and were happy. After the mountain we ventured into a lava tube and then onto a farm/shop to sample their produce. I would definitely recommend Etna Tribe - I wish I'd found them sooner during my stay in Sicily as they offer other trips that I would like to have done.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Frederico. Wonderful guide , destination was fantastic experience . Our guide looked after us very well
We recommend the morning tour to Etna from Syracuse to anyone who is on holiday in the area and would like to see Europe's highest volcano. Our guide Federico met us at 8:30 a.m. at Piazza Pantheon in Syracuse. Due to the heavy traffic, we recommend allowing enough time if you are arriving by car. The Parcheggio Gelone is a 3-minute walk away, but at €2/hour it is rather expensive for the region. We were very happy when Federico told us that we were not expecting any other guests that day and that we would have a private tour for the two of us. On the way up Etna, our guide told us many interesting facts about the formation of the Etna craters and the peculiarities of the surrounding flora and fauna. We made a stop at an old lava field, where we visited a cave wearing helmets. When we arrived at the valley station of Etna, we were able to choose whether we wanted to explore the lower craters with Federico or take the cable car further up. We decided on the Etna 3000 mt experience. Our guide organized the tickets for the cable car and the bus (ticket price €78 per person still to be paid) and carefully guided us to the entrance. After about 2 hours we met up with Federico again at the vehicle and, as the last stop of the trip, we were taken to a local inn on the lower slopes of Etna. There we were treated to a very delicious and extensive tasting of specialties from the agriculture around Etna. From drinks to sweets and savory dishes, everything was there. All in all, a very successful trip, Federico anticipated our every wish and answered each of our questions in detail and in easy-to-understand English.
