Description
C'est un programme de visite parfait pour nos invités chrétiens. Comme Éphèse a une place importante dans la Bible, pour cette visite, nous choisissons soigneusement des guides qui ont une bonne connaissance de la Bible et de l'histoire chrétienne. Éphèse, peut-être la plus importante des sept églises, est l'endroit où saint Paul a écrit ses lettres aux Éphésiens, et où saint Jean l'Évangéliste a amené la Vierge Marie à passer ses dernières années. Le Vatican reconnaît la maison de la Vierge Marie, située dans les collines près d'Éphèse, comme un sanctuaire. Juste à l'extérieur d'Éphèse, à Selcuk, se trouve la basilique Saint-Jean où il a prêché et serait enterré.

L’apôtre Paul a visité Éphèse pour la première fois à son retour de voyage missionnaire où il «est entré dans la synagogue et a raisonné avec les Juifs» (Actes 18: 19-21). Lors de son deuxième voyage, Paul est venu à Éphèse et a enseigné aux douze disciples qui ne connaissaient que le baptême de Jean (Actes 19: 1-7) et royaume de Dieu '' (Actes 19: 8)
Selon la tradition, Jean a écrit son Évangile à Éphèse à la demande d'autres disciples et est mort dans l'église qui porte son nom sur la colline Ayasuluk. Au cours de cette visite, nous visiterons la basilique Saint-Jean et verrons son lieu de sépulture.
Nous continuerons notre visite et visiterons la Maison de Mère Marie. Les pèlerins catholiques visitent cet endroit parce qu'ils croyaient que Marie, la mère de Jésus, a été emmenée dans cette maison par Saint Jean et y a vécu ses derniers jours, jusqu'à son assomption (selon la doctrine catholique). La Maison de la Vierge Marie a reçu la visite de plusieurs papes: le pape Paul VI dans les années 60, le pape Jean-Paul II dans les années 80 et en 2006 le pape Benoît XVI. C'est une église aujourd'hui, et il est possible de se joindre à la messe le dimanche.

Our tour (for four people) from Kusadasi to Ephesus was everything we wanted and more. Volkan was an excellent guide. The booking process had been simple and Ertunga answered all our queries promptly. We were met at the cruise terminal and driven in a very comfortable vehicle as Volkan discussed the itinerary for the day. Everything went smoothly and we were soon beginning our tour. Volkan’s commentary and explanations were really very interesting and he was able to pace the tour very well. He allowed time for photos and he patiently answered all our questions. As we had booked a tour with a Biblical focus, we were really delighted with the information he provided, especially about the backgrounds of the seven churches from Revelation. On the way back, he took us to a small local restaurant where we had delicious fresh fish and salad, which we enjoyed very much. We also drove to a vantage point on the way back where we were able to see the remains of the Temple of Artemis, the ruins of the St John’s Basilica and a mosque, representing three different religions and periods of time. We had a visit to a ceramics gallery that was interesting as we watched the artisans at work and saw beautiful pieces of their work. It was a thoroughly enjoyable day and we would highly recommend the tour and Volkan

We enjoyed our one-day tour with Umut - who gave us an informative and engaging tour of the ruins of Ephesus. To our family it was significant that we were able to hear the Biblical background on the area. Adding in geographic understanding (like the aqueducts) and the local understanding (how the church of Mary was found by speaking with the locals many years ago) - I thought Umut did a great job of guiding our family in what was important to us. He even grew up around here. Umbrellas provided the cherry on top.
Umut was a knowledgeable guide with excellent English. We toured with an eye toward Biblical Ephesus and put our own private family tour together (Ephesus ruins, Mother Mary’s home, and St John’s Basilica plus a bonus stop at the Artemis temple). Many other options. Loads of information about how Biblical writing references places here, including reading from Revelation and explaining how portions of the letters to the churches would have been understood by the original recipients. Logistical details were all smooth, excellent lunch (accommodated gluten free needs), very safe driver.
Had a great tour guide named Volcan. He’s knowledgeable and friendly about facts of the Bible as it relates to the tour. He made the tour so much more interesting even my teenagers gave him a double thumbs up. Everything describe in the details we were able to see and learned a lot more than I expected. Highly suggest this tour and tour guide.
