The small group tour was great! We could hear what our guide was talking about, he pointed out interesting points.
Your guide didn’t know what she was talking about. Didn’t let us touch anything that we were allowed to touch. Yelled at us for no apparent reason. Horrible experience. Museum seems cool, just make sure you get the write tour.
The Museum of the American Revolution was a great experience. The America Rising film was very well done, and the interactive exhibits and model displays were fascinating and informative. The museum does an excellent job bringing the Revolutionary War era to life. Even the Revolution-themed trail mix in the café was a fun and creative touch. Highly recommend this museum for anyone interested in American history.
Great museum about the American Revolution. We spent 5 hours here. It definitely takes more than the 2 hours they recommend, unless you breeze through it as quickly as possible without reading anything. They have several films, a presentation about George Washington's tent, and the main museum exhibit. The main exhibit is nice because it takes you chronologically through the war. Currently, until 2027, they have a special exhibit "The Declaration's Journey," about the Declaration of Independence and how it inspired independence movements around the world. We found that really interesting because that's not something that you typically learn about in history classes or in books about the Revolutionary War.
Wound up as a private tour for our family of four before the museum opened to the public. Truly felt like we had the whole museum to ourselves! Engaging guide, Jonah, kept our group’s interest throughout (including 13 & 14 year olds). Museum has nice interactive components and we were able to go back to revisit areas we wanted to see again plus explore the special exhibition on the Declaration after the tour. If you’d like a more private experience without the crowds, I’d highly recommend this tour!
I booked this experience through Viator. However, they will not let me leave a review directly on their platform as the tour did not happen. We arrived about 10 minutes early for the 9AM tour. At 9AM when no one was there to greet us, I reached out to the tour operator and received no response. I had a very difficult time with Viator customer service, but this review is on the tour, so I won't get in to detail. I had booked the tour well in advance so there was no good reason that the museum should not have scheduled someone. They did refund the cost of the tour, though. We ended up visiting the museum the next day (not with the tour) and I thought, overall, the museum was well done and informative. There was museum staff available to answer questions so I don't think this tour would be necessary. I believe there is at least one more review from someone who had the same issue as our family. I would not risk booking the tour and scheduling around it, to not have it happen.
The tour may have been interesting if I was able to hear it. There were at least 3-4 tours at the same time. Nothing could be heard and the noise from one group to the other was way too much to learn a thing. Perhaps head phones would assist but there were so many people that who knew which group you should be with.
"Declarations Journey" exhibit (Oct '25-Jan '26) is completely woke. Learned little about the actual Declaration of Independence or the amazing men who founded our republic. Entire focus was on oppressed people groups.
This tour gives me unique experience of an undisturbed tour. This young museum features well designed curation, which brings to life the vital chapters of the revolution. I am lucky to be the only guest of this tour. But the guide's services is absolutely undiscounted. She helps me understand both the big picture and small details of the American history.
It was so nice having access to the Museum before it opened to the public. My guide was very knowledgeable and it was like getting a refresher course on the history of the Revolutionary War. I was fortunate to have a private tour. The entire staff at the Museum was so friendly. Highly recommend this tour for any age.
