Greatly enjoyed seeing Ha long bay. Luckily had great weather, and our butler Quy (Alex) looked after us so well! Highly recommend!
We were on the Catherine Cruises ship. First off this is not a cruise, it's a two day sleep on the ship. After you get on the ship at noon, you sail to Halong Bay which takes about an hour, drop anchor and that's it. You do a tour of the caves from your ship, which is pretty cool, the caves are pretty amazing. Then you go to another little island for sunset, which we missed the sunset because a bunch of guests were late, and we waited for them, those of us who were on time ended up waiting for 20 minutes on the small boat to take us to the island. So that was a bit of a bust. The next day if you do the island tour of Viet Hai village, you are handed off to another tour operator, they take you in a smaller boat to the island. The ship you're handed off to is a basic small ship, certainly not the "luxury" that we paid for. The bike ride through the jungle is easy and the little village is pretty cool. Then you get to kayak for an hour, and then swim for 45 mins, plus you get lunch on this little ship and that's your day, which they do make pretty much the whole day. But it was a good day, as we met some great people along the way on the ship. But note, if you pay for the luxury cruise or just the basic cruise, you are still handed off to a smaller cruise operator, if you are going to go on one of these buy the basic cruise, because that's what we got. We got dropped off back at the ship and you have another dinner there and again sleep on the cruise ship, although you still do no cruising. The next morning you have to be out of your room by 9:30 am so they can start cleaning for the next guests, and off the ship by 10:30. So it's hardly a 3 day "cruise". Breakfast on the ship both days was very disappointing for the money we paid, and the ship we choose, an ultra luxury cruise, which it's not. Some cold eggs, a bit of fruit, some wiener sausages and some asian food, some basic bread for toast, just not a lot. Our first nights dinner was just ok, some of our dishes were just warm, the second night was a bit better. Note wine and cocktails are ridiculously expensive on the ship. Think fancy cocktails prices in a great bar in a major North American city, or Paris or London, but local made quality. The staff on the ship, like most people in Vietnam are wonderful, very kind and accommodating. We would defiantly not do this cruise or really any cruise at Halong Bay. We would go back to Halong Bay, as we stayed there for two nights after, go to the beach and just to the day cruise, which you can do to the village. A lot of people we ended up talking to felt the same way, you just have to realize what you are getting for the money you are spending.
What an amazing little trip (2 nights / 3 days)! The whole experience was great: great pool with views, excursions and activities organized by them, super friendly staff, great rooms (at times you even forget you’re on a boat), great food and drinks. And again, the staff was amazing (thank you, Jay!) And don’t miss the drone pics. You’re gonna wanna.

The weather did not help much, it was cloudy, but it was still very good! Very well organized Service, helpful boat attendants, but with hard to understand English. The food was good and full. The cabin that was upstairs with private balcony was very comfortable and quiet. However, despite the beautiful bathtub the bath was a bit difficult with a short hose.

Great time on board our boat with 7 cabins, the typical meals made us travel as much as our discovery of the bay!! The room was very clean with large beds and a very comfortable bathroom. I recommend!

Pick up via bus - my husband could not sit on the last seat left as the bus was so small for a trip of 4 hours. The confirmation said max. 20 people on the boat however we ended up with around 40 people. They also confirm internet access however it did not work for most of the time. Not an issue for us but just you are aware. The boat itself excellent food - star food - and staff extremely friendly and helpfull. 100% pleased with that.

2 day 1 night cruise What an amazing experience. What can I say, firstly we were picked up from the hotel, then transferred to the tour operator office and changed busses to go to ha long bay, and we were slightly delayed so they took the highway instead which ended up getting us there on time. Small wait at the port for the boat to come and pick us up. Rooms were excellent, staff were excellent and the food was amazing. We checked into the boat and then had 30 minutes before the other boat came and picked us up for a tour of the pearl farm, and kayaking in ha long. Amazing experience. Then we went back to the boat, had dinner and then multiple activities were available, the bar on the roof was open, squid fishing on the bottom deck and karaoke on the middle deck. So much fun! The next day we woke up early, had breakfast and went on the boat to explore the amazing cave, which was beautiful. Then we returned to the boat for lunch while we set back to the port. Overall the experience was above expectations and would book again
