Notre circuit Durango en Jeep remonte le canyon de La Plata, un ravin accidenté niché dans un paradis alpin. Ici, dans ce paysage sculpté par les glaciers, vous trouverez des cascades tombant en cascade dans le canyon, des couloirs de trembles scintillants, d'innombrables fleurs sauvages, des animaux sauvages se précipitant entre les prairies et des vues panoramiques sur les plus belles montagnes Rocheuses du Colorado. Comme nous l'avons dit, le paradis ! Nos guides amusants et expérimentés sont des habitants de Durango, qui connaissent comme personne d'autre la riche histoire et l'écologie de ce canyon. Alors que d'autres pourvoiries ont tendance à laisser le paysage faire tout le travail à leur place, nos guides vous donnent de nombreuses informations sur ce qui rend cette région incroyablement spéciale. Ce sont également des conducteurs talentueux qui vous guideront sans encombre sur ce sentier défoncé. La plupart des gens ne veulent pas emprunter cette ancienne route minière avec leur propre véhicule, et nos jeeps à ciel ouvert sont personnalisées pour une conduite plus douce, même si la route sera encore cahoteuse à mi-chemin. Tout cela fait partie du plaisir !

Retrouvez-nous à notre bureau de Durango le matin ou l'après-midi pour une excursion de 4 heures dans la magnifique nature sauvage du canyon de La Plata, à seulement 20 minutes de la ville. Le sentier commence en douceur et se transforme lentement en une route en décombres à environ la moitié du canyon. Préparez-vous à vous défouler et à faire connaissance avec la personne à côté de vous ! En gravissant la montagne, nous nous arrêterons pour admirer quelques cascades, prairies et anciens vestiges de l'ère minière sauvage du Colorado. En montant, gardez les yeux ouverts pour apercevoir des cerfs, des marmottes, des renards, des oiseaux de proie et, si vous avez de la chance, un élan ou un ours ! Une fois que nous aurons atteint le sommet du canyon, nous prendrons le temps de profiter d'une vue spectaculaire sur les montagnes de San Juan, les Rocheuses les plus appréciées du Colorado ! De fin juin à début août, c'est le sentier tout-terrain idéal pour admirer les fleurs sauvages. De la fin septembre au début octobre, les grandes tremblaies offrent des couleurs automnales étonnantes.

I would highly recommend this tour with mild to wild tour company. Specifically asked for Jay as he was an amazing tour guide! He was enjoyable, knowledgeable,and was at our service. He stopped whenever we wanted to stop and was more than happy to explain everything that we were seeing, including how all of the rock formations and mountains were formed millions of years ago! We did not want the tour to end! Be sure to ask for Jay!

The jeep tour with Cat was fantastic. Cat shared stories of the La Plata canyon folks while pointing out the various highlights of the tour. She took us to the top of the canyon and we were able to walk on the colorado trail and go to the cliff and see phenomenal views. We had a great day Thank you Cat.

The jeep ride up to the Colorado Mountains from Durango was a fun morning trip. We were blessed with wonderful weather and our driver/guide Paul managed the very bumpy roads very well. That’s not to say that it wasn’t wildly bumpy— be forewarned— it was bumpier than I expected . The scenery was really beautiful and I enjoyed the waterfalls. Paul was a very nice driver and guide but knew less about the flora than I expected— he was more intent on telling us about all the current housing settlements in this off grid area than the geology and flora. I do think $125 per person which we paid was maybe a little expensive but then there is no way I could have traveled up there on my own. The views were stunning.
