This tour was one of the most powerful experiences we’ve had while traveling. Dubrovnik is so much more than a Game of Thrones set and Vesna truly brought that to life for us. Hearing real stories from someone who lived through the siege was eye opening and honestly unforgettable. She took the time to explain everything in such detail and answered every question we had with so depth. It didn’t feel like a typical tour, it felt personal and real. We booked this for my boyfriend’s birthday, and he absolutely loved it. We both walked away with so much knowledge and a completely new perspective on the city. 10 out of 10, especially for anyone who appreciates history. Highly recommend Vesna.
Thank you, Michelle! I also had a feeling of walking and reminiscing with good friends, not clients. It was a pure pleasure. I am so grateful to both of you.
Growing up I remember news reports of the break up of Yugoslavia and the war in Croatia, but as a kid it seemed a million miles away and never really took it it, but growing up and taking a interest in history (especially that of WW1 and the Cold War), when I was traveling to Dubrovnik for the first time, I wanted to get a better understanding of what the history of the war was. Had no problem booking this tour, and can say that it was great and Vesna is a fantastic guide! Across 3 hours a lot of ground is covered, and yet feels very short, as once you start getting in to the history and facts, 2 hours have passed and you are about to take the cable car up to the fortress. I did other walking tours in the city, but they only mentioned the war in passing, and never really focused on that, but if you want a tour that has zero to do with Game of Thrones, this is for you. I have done many tours like this, and find that some of the best guides are the one's who lived through it and can give you first hand accounts, with Vesna being a great example of this of just surviving day to day while the city is under siege, with story after story of the things they had to do like gathering water, getting food, and how her mother would make her family all pack rucksacks and keep them at the front door of their house to be ready to get out should a bomb strike them (which it did one day!). Truly fascinating tour and highly recommend for anyone wishing to learn more.
Your review touched me! Thank you so much. It was my pleasure to show you around, and I appreciate your interest in my birthplace and its recent history. I hope our paths will cross again.
To be given a first hand account of one person's experience of being in a war zone was a privilege. Told beautifully by Vesna and with great dignity. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone with an interest in recent history but definitely to anyone who remembers the war but only experienced it through the television news.
Dear Rick and Ruth, it was my privilege to do the tour with you. Regardless of the slightly bitter taste of the tour topic, I was impressed with your interest and enjoyed the time spent with you.

Vesna was extremely knowledgeable. She was able to talk on a wide range of subjects not only related to the recent conflicts on which her personal accounts were chilling, touching and unforgettable but also on topics relating to the historical and sociological conditions in Dubrovnik going all the way back to medieval times.

If you want a customized, academically-rigorous, and intellectually stimulating discussion, this is your tour. The only possible downside which was not at all a downside for us because we had specifically looked for this service is that she would be a little pricey if all you want is a generic greatest hits tour. But, for our needs, she was well worth the price and more!

It was really good. Our guide, Vesna knows deep the story of Croatia at war. She transmited us very lively everything about Dubrovnik from 1991 and on and good history background. I travelled with my family and usually my adult sons and daughters dont enjoy very much historic tours because sometimes they are boring with data, names..... to our surprise, they were really interested and asked many questions. All of them were answered very good. I really recommend it with Vesna as your guide.
