Big expectations. Bigger disappointment.

Unfortunately a very underwhelming experience for us. We’re a couple (no kids) in our late 20s and went mostly to get an adrenaline kick from the rides. We went mid-week, non school holidays and still waited ridiculously long for rides. 4.5hrs spent in the park and we got two rides! I’d say 3.5hrs of lining up in total. It just seemed ridiculously inefficient everywhere you looked. Rides down for maintenance, big drop not in service due to a mild breeze (at ground level) and only running 1 coaster per run. Given we’re not the main target customer, however I’d not be recommending any friends on going. I don’t usually write reviews, but the excitement was big leading up to it, and the disappointment was even bigger.

Long ques, outdated park overpriced food and rude food staff

Food central staff were rude as can be. Food was overpriced and although there was minimal lines still took 40 mins

Really Lost it's Soul

After 20 years I got to go to Dreamworld again. I was expecting to re-live all these amazing experiences. Have to say I was massively disappointed and it almost feels like they have sold out completely to upselling. All the old amazing rides like the Mine Ride, Log Ride, Steam Boat & Show no longer exist. The heart of dreamworld experiences & themed areas has been gutted. Now let's talk about the new stuff... The Goldcoaster was closed, the Taipan wasn't working when the park opened, eventually it opened I got 1 ride before it was broken. The Giant Drop was the same story, 1 ride and then shut. Literally the only other exciting Thrill ride was The Claw! On top of this there was one staff member at each ride and it took way too long to switch people to the next ride, making everything slow. I had a ride pass which meant I could skip the queue, what an absolute waste of money given how many rides were closed. I expected massive upgrades given it's been 20 years. I'll never go again. Dreamworld has lost all the joy and excitement for adults.

Fantastic experience. Grandkids loved it as did we. Went on a weekday and barely had any queues. We'll set out Park.

Go somewhere else that knows how to treat its customers

Very disappointing and won’t go back, not because of the rides but because the staff. Waited for 1 hr to go on the taipan after staff said my oldest son would be tall enough to ride, his head was just above the green line, got to the point where we were about to get on and staff member came over with stick that he was holding out of level and said he couldn’t ride, do they have any idea how disappointing for an 8 yr old and how annoying for an adult to waste 1 hr stood in line for and get told no after staff at bottom said he’d be okay is. We then lined for 30 mins to get a family dinner meal, got given 4 little plastic tomato sauce packs for 5 ppl and told we had to pay 50c each for extra sauce after just spending nearly $100 on frozen fries and nuggets and two burgers and desert. We then went to the nugget rush (I think) lined up, my youngest son got nervous when we were about to get in carriage so we walked away and told staff he didn’t want to ride anymore, rest of the family went on. As soon as we left he changed his mind and said.he wants to ride it as long as we don’t need to line up again, i said we wouldn’t, so we went to same attendant that had literally just let us out who then spent 5 mins calling superiors who then instructed him that we had to wait 3 x cycles, basically the same as the 20 min wait we just did before he’d let us on, what a joke, my son that was trying to ride and concur his fear of course then didn’t want wait and asked to leave. Well done dream world!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, Trevor. We are genuinely sorry to hear that your visit did not meet expectations, particularly as we understand how disappointing experiences like these can be for both parents and children. Guest safety is our highest priority and ride height requirements must be strictly enforced at the point of boarding using calibrated measuring equipment. While we appreciate how frustrating this can be after waiting, these checks are essential to ensure every guest’s safety and are applied consistently. With regard to food service, we appreciate your comments and will share them with our food and beverage team for review. Our ride operations team follow set procedures to manage capacity and fairness for all guests. In situations where a guest exits a ride queue or vehicle, re-entry policies are applied to ensure consistent operations for everyone waiting. We regret that your family left feeling disappointed, as this is never the experience we aim to deliver. Your feedback has been noted and shared with the relevant teams as we continue to improve the guest experience across the park. -Max from Dreamworld

Family day out

Dream world was one of the last big parks to visit in QLD and we have finally ticked it off. Lots of Fun rides for all ages to choose from, our highlight was the 4D around the World cinema experience we absolutely loved it. The family roller coasters were so much fun and the big brother experience was something different to experience. Lots of areas to sit and rest through the day as you will need a whole day to visit this theme park. The major negative was the wait times in lines to wait for rides some had a 90 minute wait which was so hard to do with children, and the only other option to skip quest is the express tickets which cost an arm and a leg for a whole family ( more then the total of the entry fee) Overall a great experience if you love rides and theme parks. I’m glad we got this off our bucket list.

Thanks so much for your detailed and balanced review. We’re really pleased to hear Dreamworld lived up to expectations as a bucket list visit, and that your family enjoyed the mix of attractions, especially Sky Voyager, the family coasters and the Big Brother experience. You’re absolutely right that Dreamworld is a full-day park, and we’re glad you found plenty of spaces to rest and recharge throughout the day. Peak-day wait times can be challenging, particularly with children, and we appreciate your understanding that Express options are designed to give guests flexibility on busier days. We continue to look at ways to improve queue flow and capacity where possible, especially during high-demand periods. Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We’re glad you enjoyed your day overall and hope to welcome you back in the future. -Max from Dreamworld

Check what's on

Didn't realize that they were having a Halloween night so some of the rides were closed and it seemed to be a bit sparse of entertainment. Dissapointed there wasn't that sparkle obviously holding it for the evening event

Dreamworld is back!

As a kid in the 80s, Dreamworld was the place you dreamed of visiting on your birthday — something you’d look forward to for weeks, and it never disappointed. Today, it’s even better than it was at the height of its fame. Our kids (2 and 6) absolutely loved it — there were more squeals of delight and excitement than we could count! The rides are top-notch, the nostalgia is real (the original Dreamworld train!), and the family-friendly facilities meant my wife and I could actually relax a little too. Thanks for bringing back the magic, Dreamworld — we’ll definitely be back (a lot!).

Great day out!

We visited the park with a 7 and 9 year old the week after QLD school holidays so the park was pretty quiet which was great! My kids enjoyed all the rides and with most ride wait times being less than 15 minutes we managed to go on almost every single ride in the park and did our favourite ones twice! The park has clearly been updated and renovated and it definitely appears ‘fresher’ than movie world and sea world. The only negatives would be that there is no app to check wait times so we were constantly tracking around the park to check wait times which could’ve been avoided with an app. The park was also quite expensive to enter ($480 for a family normally but we got an online deal for $345. I think around $250 would be a fair price for a family of 4.) We did have a great day though and we all rated this park higher than Sea World and Movie World.

Hi Dmack44, Thanks for sharing your experience! We’re thrilled you and the kids had a fantastic day and enjoyed almost every ride, even going back for favourites twice. We’re glad you noticed the updates around the park too. We appreciate your feedback about wait times and ticket pricing. While we don’t yet have an app for live updates, it’s something we are exploring. It’s great you were able to grab an online deal to make your visit even better. Thanks again for your kind words. We can’t wait to welcome you back for more fun and thrills! -Max from Dreamworld
