My wife and I were the only tourists who showed up for the "Free Tour" at the meeting point outside La Sqala restaurant. Amine declined our invitation to join us for lunch there, regrettably: What a great discussion we would have had over lunch! Instead, he waited patiently outside until we had finished. We had visited the Hassan II mosque in the morning. Therefore, at our request the tour covered only the Medina (the "old town" of Casablanca). We had been in Casa before on a number of occasions but never dared to venture inside the Medina. The Medina is a very special microcosmos. Amine grew up in the Medina and knows every street and corner. He also knows many of the fish mongers, chicken butchers, shoe repair guys and bicycle repair shops, and some know him. It's crowed, lots of people walking and driving on motorcycles, it's noisy and dirty. You need a guide like Amine or you will walk through the Medina without understanding anything. Amine also showed us the areas where the government expropriates the inhabitants in order to modernize this very traditional part of Casablanca. He explained what this means for the inhabitants: Housing somewhere on the outskirts of Casa, separation from family and friends. It's life changing for someone who has lived in the Medina all his life. We saw people watching their houses being torn down, with lots of police around to quell any protest. The government promises them a better life. People looked sad, conscious of and probably mourning the end of the life they knew. Amine made sure we arrived on time at the stop of the shuttle bus that took us back to our cruise ship in the harbour. Amine is polite, knowledgeable and fun to be with. He patiently answered all our questions. It was a pleasure to meet him. Thank you, Amine!
Magnificent, it is an experience to be had with children for those who have them, as they must discover the world with its different facets.
We had a great time and saw so much. Our guide was knowledgeable and patient and knew his way around so well I don't think we ever went the same thing twice! I would definitely recommend.
Amine is an excellent guide, very kind and attentive. He knows a lot about the history of the ancient city and what happens today. For those interested in this part of Casablanca, I recommend this tour.
Our guide didn’t show up at the meeting place. I contacted the tour company and I was told that he didn’t know about the booking since we booked it last minute. We ended up asking for a refund. Very disappointed.
You booked less than hour before to meet you, and explained that throught whatsap app even you left this review.THIS IS NOT FAIR
What a great afternoon. Amine is very engaging, full of information and ready to answer any question. He knows the Medina intimately and knows the history behind key buildings and changes happening to the Medina population. Highly recommended.
I walked two hours through the Medina with Armide. It was a great experience to learn more about the Medina and the way of living. Armide also told about the social structure of the Medina and the way Casablanca is developing. You have to see the Medina as part of your experience in Casablanca!
Amine was fantastic and went over and above in my opinion. I happened to be the only client so I received a private tour. Our 2.5 hour tour lasted 4 hours and we sat and enjoyed coffee before saying goodbye. We walked the maze of the Medina and he shared the nitty gritty cultural and political and economic issues facing his city and his country. Amine is why I travel as I would not learn half a much unless he existed and desired to share his knowledge and perspective. I am very appreciative of the time he gave me that afternoon. If you want to learn about the Medina as you walk by its sites, it’s a great tour and Amine is a great guide.
A good tour of the Medina with lots of information and history. Then a stroll to the Mosque to see the outside and the seafront.
Very good tour of the old Medina with Amine. He knows a lot about Morocco and can answer a variety of questions. The payment covered the tour and Amine didn’t beg for extra tips which made the whole experience far more pleasant than other service providers in Casablanca. Definitely recommend
