Visites privées (2 heures) (1 - 30 places) D'autres points de départ et itinéraires peuvent être demandés et adaptés pour faciliter les personnes handicapées ou en fauteuil roulant. 2. Visite publique - Lieux individuels (est90mins) (1 - 15 places) 3. Des visites plus longues sont disponibles - envoyez un message Cette visite donne une introduction plus large à l'histoire de la ville, y compris St Colomba, les Vikings, les Normands et les chefs irlandais, la plantation d'Ulster, la construction de ses murs emblématiques, le siège de 1688/1689, les émigrations vers le Nouveau Monde des Écossais Irlandais, l'industrialisation, y compris les usines de chemises, la famine des pommes de terre des années 1840 , la crise du Home Rule et la partition, la ville dans deux guerres mondiales , les troubles récents, le processus de paix, y compris le Brexit, et les Derry Girls.

Had a great two hours with David who met us at the hotel and accommodated a family member who is a wheelchair user. Great tour with lots of info not available in the history books. Very flexible and gave us lots of choices in terms of what we wanted to see and hear about as we “dandered” through and around Derry.

I knew very little about Derry apart from the Troubles. I loved the views from the Walls of the meandering river, it reminded me of Inverness. I learned such a lot from David Douglas on the walk; he explained history without overwhelming us and I gathered from him and other people a spirit of looking to the future. I bought two well written booklets of walks around Derry, written by Richard Doherty, with stunning detailed illustrations by Tim Webster. I certainly want to visit Derry again.

We loved this tour with David. We would never have been able to appreciate all of the different aspects of the City Walls without his guidance. We could tell that he’s truly passionate about his home town, Derry. David also gave us lots of tips about other things that we could do after the tour. We took his advice and went to the Guildhall to see the noble peace prize and then walked over the peace bridge. If you’re visiting Derry, do this tour. You can’t go wrong.
