What an absolute gem of an experience. We had a fantastic time meeting Hugo, Rosa and their lovely children. They shared a delicious dinner of alcatra (local beef stew) that had been cooking in a wood-fired oven for 24 hours, as well as fresh-baked bread and traditional Dona Amélia tarts. Best of all though was just spending time with this warm, welcoming family, chatting to them about their lives and backgrounds, finding commonalities and laughing together. For families, it's a great alternative to restaurants or self-catering, as their kids (ages 15 and 12) join in too, playing outside and chatting to everyone. They have table football, plus outside space for games. It was a top highlight on our Azores trip. Highly recommended.
Very nice expérience ! Meeting nice family! We enjoyed learning about local culture and history ! Ugo and Rosa are passionnate! And Laura ans Augusto very kind! The food was amazing, all local products! Ending the evening with 90's Rock music! Live Pearl Jam and Sound Garden !
We had a wonderful dining experience Hugo and his family. The meal was delicious and authentic and typically Azorean. We had a great night learning about Terceira and sharing music tastes. It was a wonderful experience that I truly recommend.
We had a wonderful dinner experience with a brilliant local Terceira family, who opened their home to us as guests (3 families of 5 people). Large home on the outskirts of Angra - easy to drive to or taxi. Huge outdoor space and amazing dining area. The food was traditional Azorean - 24 hour cooked beef stew and amazing butter beer beans. Plus loaves of home made bread in their traditional oven. Free flowing Local wines from Terceira Pico and mainland. And some special local spirits to cap off a fabulous dinner. Kids were able to play outside after dinner with the teenage kids of the hosts. Parents able to relax and get to know the hosts and the local culture. An immersive dining experience and the best meal of the holiday.
Our dinner with Hugo and Rosa was one of the absolute highlights of our vacation. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends and made to feel completely at home. The food was incredible—fresh, authentic, and clearly prepared with so much care and love. We also dined with another traveling couple from Spain. The conversation was just as memorable as the meal. We learned so much about daily life, customs, and the region while sharing laughs and enjoying genuine hospitality. It was such a refreshing experience compared to a typical restaurant dinner. If you’re looking for an authentic cultural experience and a delicious home-cooked meal, I can’t recommend this enough. It was more than just dinner—it was a meaningful connection that we’ll remember long after our trip. Thank you for such a wonderful evening!
It is the best option to get to know the culture of the people who live on Terceira Island; they tell their traditions, their family stories, they make you a participant in the preparation of the dinner... They are a very welcoming, polite family and eager to be with different people. Totally recommended 100%
My family (parents, husband, and daughter) loved our dinner with Hugo Miguel and Rosa. They made a delectable traditional meal with plenty of drinks to go around. We had lovely conversation, and they made us feel right at home. It was a major highlight of the trip! If we are ever back on the island, we would return in a heartbeat.
We had a fabulous time sharing friendship, food and wine with Hugo, Rosa and their family. They have a beautiful, welcoming home. We felt as though we were hanging out with old friends soon after we arrived. The food was delicious and after dinner drinks looked great ( although I was the driver didn't get to share those). I would highly recommend this if your are visiting Terceira. A wonderful night!
We loved our dinner with Hugo and Rosa and their family. We had a traditional alcatra with homemade bread and dessert- it was fabulous! We hung out well after dinner to sample some of Hugo’s stocked bar! This was one of the highlights of our trip! Top notch communication- Hugo reached out almost immediately after booking. Flexibility- our vacation was impacted by weather and Hugo accommodated us on a different day due to changed travel plans. Helpful tips- Hugo provided us with helpful tips for things to see and places to go! We hope we are able to visit Terceira again in the future. Dinner with Hugo and Rosa’s family will be the first thing we book!
Amazing experience with Hugo and Rosa. It was the highlight of our trip to Terceira. I highly recommend. Food was amazing, drink was amazing, and conversation was amazing. So glad we had this evening at the end of our trip.
