Depuis Naples : Pompéi et Vésuve avec déjeuner

The first bus to Pompeii from Naples was a little warm. The Pompeii tour was great, slightly fast paced but I felt like I saw enough for the time we had. Lunch was fine, good pizza. No complaints there. The drive up and down Vesuvius was a little nerve wracking, but the road is steep, narrow, and other people were driving fast. I think that’s just how it is and not really a fault of our driver. I felt a little rushed when climbing Vesuvius, we were allowed 1 hour and 15 minutes. I think an extra 15 minutes would have been nice. I overall enjoyed it and would recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

I had planned this trip 2-3 months in advance and was really looking forward to visiting Pompeii and climbing Mount Vesuvius. Unfortunately, the tour provider contacted me just one day before the trip to say they could not secure the Vesuvius tickets(???) despite my booking having been confirmed over a few months earlier. Naturally, I was quite disappointed, especially as it was too late to reorganise everything independently for the following day. The tour was adjusted to include Sorrento instead, which meant changing some of my original plans! That said, our guide YUNIS was absolutely fantastic. His energy, professionalism, and knowledge really helped turn the day around and allowed me to still fully enjoy Pompeii and Sorrento. Yunis speaks English, French, Italian and Arabic fluently and I heard he speaks German and learns Spanish too! My recommendation to future travellers would simply be to double-check in advance that all tickets have actually been secured to avoid a similar experience.

Shameful .... The provider modifies the trip 24 hours before departure by claiming not to be able to have tickets for Vesuvius when we booked in January!!!!

Our tour guide, Nina, was fantastic, and our driver, Genarro, was equally impressive. Nina shared a wealth of interesting information about the surroundings throughout the trip, all while creating a warm, friendly atmosphere that made everyone feel comfortable. Genarro’s driving skills truly stood out—navigating the narrow roads, oncoming traffic, and steep ascent of Mount Vesuvius with ease was no small feat. Everything was well-organized, clearly communicated, and ran perfectly on time. The experience was topped off with a lovely lunch included in the trip (unfortunately, I can’t recall the restaurant’s name). Overall, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable experience.

Very informative and amazing guide-Unice-he was fabulous. We could not ask for a better guide. We would recommend this tour and the guide to anyone.

The visit to Pompeii was great and the guide very well. There were only 5 of us so it was in ideal conditions. The Vesuvius visit was cancelled (the site had informed us in advance and had proposed the visit of Sorrento, which we accepted). Unfortunately, this tour was only a drop-off by the driver (no explanation, no guided tour). The time was too short for us to have time to explore the city for ourselves, we just wandered down a shopping street. So it was disappointing. We took option pizza class. That was very good. If we had to consider only Pompei and the pizza class we would have put 5 stars. But the cancellation of the Vesuvius trip (apparently beyond the organization’s control) and the disappointing alternative proposal lowered our rating.

The guide Andrea (who speaks excellent French) and the driver Michele were 5 stars / absolutely perfect. Grazie Mille !!

Hard to know where to start. My wife and I scheduled this tour originally for 9 am on March 28th and the tour duration was advertised as 7 hours. We received a message on the evening of the 27th that our departure time had been moved to 7:30 am. Pretty big change, but I was OK with it as I figured an earlier start means less crowds and back to the cruise ship earlier. Then on the morning of March 28th we get a call from our driver Francesco at 7:15 telling us he is waiting for us and we need to hurry. We were ready and got to the van at 7:25. Then he had to pick up two more couples who we then waited for while sitting in the van because he had arrived 15-20 minutes early to pick them up as well. As we were waiting for other couples to arrive I thought it best to confirm our day with him, which included skip the line tics and guide at Pompeii, lunch, and Vesuvius with a guide. He then told me that I was wrong and all he was doing was giving me a ride to Pompeii and a ride to Vesuvius. Then I said for $215 dollars I better be getting more than that. He then stepped out the van and made a call, then got back in the van to tell me sorry and that I was right. We are only just beginning folks. We proceeded to pick up another 2 ladies and then to Pompeii. We arrive in Pompeii at 8:25 and stood around waiting for our guide and for Pompeii to open at 9 am. Nobody else was around but our group, standing and waiting. So why the big rush? I guess it was convenient for the driver, not sure. We then began our tour with our guide Manuela. She was actually pretty good and I give her 3 to 4 stars. Why not 5? Well, I think it is fair to state that when you go to Pompeii you want to see the famous cast's of the body frozen in time. We didn't see any of that as those preserved remains are in the museums at Pompeii that our admission paid for but she did not take us to that area...very disappointing. Also, there were 2 very nice Italian ladies in our group and every time our tour guide would explain something to us in English, she would then explain it to them in Italian and it really made the tour drag on and maybe a reason why we didn't make it to see the museums. After Pompeii, we walked across the street and met our driver at a restaurant. The driver walked us into the restaurant at 11:05 am, said something to the Italian ladies in Italian and took off to return two people in our group to Naples as they were not doing the rest of the tour with us. We had absolutely no idea what was going on in the restaurant and nobody spoke english. Fortunately, the 2 Italian ladies were able to give us a basic explanation of how we were going to be served, but we still had no idea how to order, what to order, what was included, what we were paying for, etc. We did have some pizza and pasta for lunch and it was average at best. We finished our lunch around 11:45 to noon and then just sat and waited for our driver to return. He returned at 12:15 and we are thinking OK, now off to Vesuvius. Nope!! He walked in, told us to just relax and wait for awhile longer. Then he proceeded to order and have a 45 minute sit down lunch for himself. Really!! We are now nearing 2 hours at this restaurant. Then he finally comes walking back out to where we are, grinning, rubbing his stomach and wiping food off his face asking us if we were ready!?!? At a little before 1 pm we get back in the van and head toward Vesuvius. After about 15 minutes I turned to my wife and said we just drove past a turn off sign for Vesuvius. Come to find out, sure enough, while he was talking to (flirting) with the 2 Italian ladies in the front seat he missed the turn off to Vesuvius. Needless to say this double the amount of time it should have taken to get there. We eventually arrive at Vesuvius at 2 pm. We get out of the van and he says meet back at 3:30. I said are you sure we still have enough time to get back to the ship be 4:30 and he said "yep, no problem." I then asked how do we get in? He said he texted our tics to the Italian ladies so make sure and stay with them and we should be alright. Really?!?! I can't make this stuff up folks. So we get past the entry gate in Vesuvius and I am like, where is our guide? At which time I was informed that after 1000 meter hike to the top there will be a guide there waiting there for you. We get to the top and ask about our guide and he had just left with a large english speaking group 5 minutes prior so we hustled and caught up. He was actually really good, but come to find out, this was just a free service offered every 20 minutes to everyone and Naplesbay Tours/Trip Advisor advertise it as some that is included in what you are paying for...sketchy!! So, we finish our tour and head back and arrive at meeting point 15 minutes early. About 10 minutes later we make contact with the driver, but we are waiting for 2 French ladies who took their time shopping and were 10-15 minutes late getting back. By now we are freaking out that we are not going to get back to the ship on time. The driver knew we were in trouble and started driving dangerously like a bat out of hell to get us back to the ship. I am not kidding folks, the brakes were literally burning and smelling on the way down from Vesuvius!! Finally, we get back to the port at 4:25. He goes the wrong way down a one way and parks in front of another taxi driver trying to get out. Francesco and the other taxi driver now start yelling at each other and both get out of their cars and go chest to chest!! My wife and I jumped out of the van as fast as we could and took off running toward the ship! We made it to the ship in the nick of time and could not put this nightmare of a day behind us fast enough!!!! The advertised 7 hour tour ended up being 9 hours of hell all because of the driver. Our driver Francesco, was an arrogant, unprofessional, inconsiderate jerk and if this was not a public review on trip advisor I would be using much stronger adjectives in my description. I absolutely would like a refund for this trip, but don't have a clue as to how to go about doing that and I am sure Naplesbay Tours/Trip Advisor would just apologize and say well you still received a tour as it was not skin off their behinds!! A very long story short folks, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY TOUR UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, PARTICULARY IF YOU ARE IN PORT ON A CRUISE SHIP...NIGHTMARE!!!!!

This was a lovely trip. However the volcano was cancelled due to weather and we were taken to Sorrento. Pompeii was amazing- I am not one for tour guides but this one was absolutely captivating and held my interest and the attention of my teenagers. The tour operators were very good and let me know of thr changes well in advance. I would love to return to Pompeii. Sorrento was beautiful and charming. This tour is recommended!
