The biggest message I want to get across is how great Michael Nelson, our tour guide, was. He was informative, a good story teller, asked questions, and made the night great. We were supposed to do the tour the night before which is where my negative aspect of the review will come into play. The email for this tour (which is in Denver) does not say where at Union Station to meet. It is a large building and NO WHERE in the email did it say to 'meet at the flagpole.' In fact, the email with the specific tour information prompting to 'get ready for your event!' shows a green doored building that says "Equitable Building" that is nowhere to be found by Union Station. Trust me - we were running circles around the building looking for said door, asking security guards where this tour was meeting, looking for someone holding a sign that said 'Ghost Tour,' etc. We frantically searched while calling the phone number that was supposed to help. I say supposed to help because the person on the phone was VERY rude and said that at 9:07, our group "probably" left. It was scheduled to be a 2 hour tour, we begged to ask where they went first so we could meet up and he was beyond rude and unhelpful. He said he was the only one working and didn't have time to help us. As part of our group was leaving the next morning, they did not get to experience the tour and we had to scramble to find someone else to go with us the next night. Offering "vouchers" is ridiculous when many people doing these tours visit from rural areas where vouchers would never be helpful. Michael Nelson is the only saving grace for our experience. I can say I will never use Viator or Ghost City Tours of Denver company again.

Guide was very knowledgeable and fun to have. Had a lot of extra history on top of the ghost stories. Wish their were more stories on the tour.
Thank you for sharing your review! We’re glad to hear that you enjoyed your guide and appreciated the additional history he brought to the Denver After Dark experience. Denver has an incredible history that goes well beyond its ghost stories, and we love being able to incorporate those historical details into the experience. We also appreciate your feedback regarding the number of ghost stories included along the route. Guest feedback is valuable as we continue looking for ways to make our tours as engaging as possible. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to welcome you back for another spooky Denver experience!
Some of our family members traveled from another state to visit Denver, and we booked this tour because we had very high expectations based on how it was presented. We were excited to experience one of Denver's top ghost tours together. Unfortunately, the experience was nothing like what was advertised or what we expected. The tour guide was extremely unprepared. He struggled to tell the stories, forgot important details multiple times, and didn't seem to know the material well. There was no enthusiasm, no energy, and no storytelling ability. Instead of an engaging ghost tour, it felt like we were listening to someone who had not prepared at all. It was honestly very frustrating and incredibly boring. The experience was so disappointing that our entire group decided to leave after the third stop. We simply couldn't justify continuing because it was obvious the tour was not going to improve. Rather than spending the rest of the evening on a tour that was not delivering what had been promised, we chose to leave. We paid $209.94 for six people, expecting a quality experience, but what we received fell far below any reasonable standard. To be completely honest, the entire experience felt more like a scam than a professionally operated tour.
Thank you for taking the time to provide such detailed feedback. We’re very disappointed to hear that this experience did not meet the expectations you had for your group’s visit to Denver. We understand your concerns regarding preparation, storytelling, accuracy, and the overall energy of the tour, particularly given that you were visiting with family from out of state and had been looking forward to experiencing a Denver ghost tour together. The experience you described is not the level of engagement or professionalism we want guests to encounter. Your feedback has been noted and will be shared with our operations team for review. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and giving us the opportunity to address them internally.
Loved Michael!! It was so informative and the guide really adapted to the group.
Thank you for the fantastic review! We’re thrilled to hear that you had such a great time and that Michael helped make the experience both informative and enjoyable. We especially love hearing that he was able to adapt to the group and create an experience that felt engaging for everyone. And as for seeing a ghost—we understand that an unexpected paranormal encounter isn’t necessarily everyone’s idea of a good time! That certainly makes for a memorable ghost tour, though. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words along to Michael. Thank you for joining us, and we hope to see you again in Denver!
Normally, I would have stayed with the full tour, but it was so poor, so painful, and so ill informed, that our guests from out of town and ourselves could not bear to continue after the second stop. Excerpts: -During the guide’s into to the group, he stated tonight was his last tour, he was not paid well… -“...If you have seen DIA, Union Station looks basically the same” -The “architect person got the math wrong on the date on the front of Union Station” -Guide stated there is a “pervert” ghost in the Brown Palace basement…. “Who knows, maybe one of you (meaning paid tour attendees) is a pervert also…..for example, I think you (pointed a guest out) could be a pervert……” -His jokes were highly off putting and uncomfortable. -His description of the ghosts were actually less informative than a quick chat gpt search of said topic. -He described how he hated downtown Denver and was sorry for anyone who was from there. -He relayed to us all of the policies of the tour company (if someone joins the group mid tour his pay would be docked unless he checked them in -Guide stated he was super anxious because he had never led a tour as large as this one and wasn’t sure how it would go -On the second stop he thought guests he had already checked in were new and had a super awkward a change with them while we waited and cringed -He allowed 4 people to join late after he did his talk for the first stop and then repeated his spiel for them while we waited Do I need to continue with the examples? I have booked many tours via Viator and have always been pleased with the quality. This was such a bad experience, that I actually looked around for hidden camera because I thought we might be inadvertently in a “Punked” show. I request a full refund.

The tour guide was very nice. The tour itself was not what I expected because I thought we were going to enter some buildings and not just walk by them. It was quite boring and not worth the price. Would not recommend it to others.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear that you found your guide to be nice, though we’re sorry the overall experience did not match what you were expecting. Our walking ghost tours are designed to explore Denver’s haunted history from the streets and exterior locations associated with the stories, rather than entering the buildings along the route. We understand that if you were expecting interior access, the format may have felt different from what you had anticipated. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, as guest feedback helps us better understand expectations and opportunities to improve how we communicate the tour experience. Thank you for joining us.
Samantha was a delightful guide. It was nice to walk around Denver after dark with a group as we would not have been brave enough as two ladies on our own to walk around in the dark. It was a very nice evening and Samantha is enchanting with many amusing tales.
Thank you so much for the lovely review! We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed exploring Denver after dark with Samantha as your guide. She has a wonderful way of making the evening feel both fun and welcoming, and we’re so glad her stories helped create such a memorable experience. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to her!
I've done many of these types of tours and this was by far the worst. This was suppose to be an hour and a half. It ended up being only an hour. The tour guide did not recall a lot of facts. Could not remember things. Would say things like she forgets what this was or certain names. Each spot was to be 15 minutes. It was only 5 minutes at most. Long walk between spots with no interaction. Was not perfesional. Cursed when telling a story. Speed through the story. Talked about the architecture of the building more then ghost stories. I would not recommend this at all. I had a group of 5 and was a waist of my money.
We’re sorry to hear that your group was disappointed with the tour. Our tours are designed to provide a full experience with a strong mix of haunted history, ghost stories, and local context, and we regret that this did not come through during your visit. We appreciate the detailed feedback regarding the pacing, length of the tour, guide delivery, and professionalism. We take comments like this seriously and will review the experience internally to determine where additional coaching or retraining may be needed. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Michael was delightful. He knew so much about Denver and the ghost stories attached. I loved hearing him narrate Denver history. I went on a Tuesday after Halloween, and only one person signed up. I actually enjoyed only walking with two other people.
My ghost tour with Michael was awesome! He was very knowledgeable and personable. He shared a lot of great information that I had never known before! It was a lot of fun and an amazing tour.
