Ostia Antica est un grand site archéologique, proche de la banlieue moderne d'Ostie (Rome). À l’embouchure du Tibre, Ostie était le port maritime de Rome. Il est réputé pour l'excellente conservation de ses bâtiments anciens, ses magnifiques fresques et ses impressionnantes mosaïques. Si vous souhaitez passer une bonne matinée à visiter en dehors de Rome, c'est une très bonne option. Cette visite privée met l'accent sur l'importance d'Ostie pendant l'empire romain. Ostia Antica est un grand site archéologique situé à proximité de la banlieue moderne d'Ostia (Rome). “Ostia” en latin signifie “bouche”, en effet la ville est située à l'embouchure du Tibre. Il est situé à environ 30 km au nord-est et était autrefois le port de la Rome antique. Comme nous l’avions déjà dit, Ostia Antica était le port de Rome, mais à cause de l’envasement et d’une baisse du niveau de la mer, le site se trouve maintenant à 3 km de la mer. Le site est réputé pour l'excellente conservation de ses bâtiments anciens, ses magnifiques fresques et ses mosaïques impressionnantes.

Seeing how everyday people lived was amazing. The kitchens/restaurant and baths we're incredible. A great site if you love history. Guide was informative and driver pointed out sites of interest on the way. If you go in the summer bring water, hats, and wear sunscreen - you'll need it.

I highly recommend this trip to any history enthusiast. Ostia is amazing and so much bigger than I imagined. You will experience the actual complete city, not just one house or temple.
