Amazing trip! Our guide...

Amazing trip! Our guide Francesca was wonderful and very helpful and kept the tour moving along. We were fortunate enough to be able to see the Blue Grotto the day of our trip, as the water conditions and weather conditions change constantlyand it's not always a guarantee that you will be able to. Be prepared to debark the tour boat and get into a row boat with an amazing rower who will guide you straight into the grotto. Something spectacular and a must see! While in the cavern-like Grotto ,you are in awe of the beautiful blue hues of the water.....incredible, amazing and magical! And Capri is just as amazing and beautiful. I wish we didn't waste our time having lunch in a restaurant. Should have grabbed a quick bite at a pizzeria instead. We didn't have too much time to walk around and shop before we had to head back to catch the boat back to Naples. Highly recommend taking this tour! The tour company and their staff were professional, easy to communicate with, responsive to my questions and booking was a snap! Thank you for a great day!

Excellent Tour Managed by Gabriele & Iliana

Good management of the tour. Showed different tourist attractions, with sufficient time at each. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and helped us with our different requests without hesitation!

Seriously disappointed!!

Our tour guide, Sacha (very knowledgeable and charismatic) warned us at the very beginning that we "might not be able to go to the Blue Grotto." He mentioned this several times during our excursion. It was a beautiful day - sunny, mid 90's, LOW tide - PERFECT for viewing the grotto. I am quite positive that Sacha himself did not want to spend HIS time travelling to or waiting in the queue to actually get into the grotto (which he has seen MANY times), so he decided on his own that we were not going there! In addition, our "free time" in Capri and Anacapri was ridiculously short! The "full day - 8 hours" tour was reduced to a bit over 7 hours from departure from Naples to return. Cost of USD 377.43 for my wife and I was poorly spent!

Dear Ray, thank you for sharing your feedback regarding the tour guided by Sacha. It's unfortunate to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. It's important for tour guides to manage expectations regarding attractions like the Blue Grotto, but it sounds like you had ideal conditions for visiting, and it's disappointing that you were not able to go. On the other hand, we believe that Sacha didn't act based on personal preferences but rather in response to the timing and schedule constraints of the tour. He likely became aware of significant congestion at the embarkation point, and he chose to spare the group from potentially long waiting times. Additionally, the shortened duration of the tour and limited free time in Capri and Anacapri can indeed affect the overall experience, especially considering the cost. Your feedback highlights the importance of transparent communication and ensuring that the advertised itinerary aligns with the actual tour experience. We hope that your future travel experiences are more satisfying and provide better value for your investment. We suggest a lower season to fully enjoy the beauties of Italy, whereas the peak season is a really challenging moment for tourists and agencies alike. Best regards, Gray Line Rome

Nice, but more travel than actual Capri exploring

The guide was lovely, and it was great to see the island of Capri, however if you want to get the full experience maybe staying for a night on the island would be better. The tour was mostly travel, 45min by ferry to the island, then the blue grotto was closed due to high tides. We had a nice boat ride of the island instead. Then caught a bus up the hill to lunch. After lunch we had 45min to explore which wasn't even enough time to get up the chair lift. So we were a little disappointed. Then had to wait around for the bus to get back down, before catching the 45min ferry back to Naples. If I travelled all the way from Rome (which some people did) I would have been extremely disappointed. The Tour itself was well organised, I just don't feel it was worth the money as we only got to spend 45min to actually explore Capri.

Dear customer, thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent visit to Capri. We appreciate your kind words about our guide and are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of the island. We understand your concerns regarding the limited time spent exploring Capri, and we apologize for any disappointment you may have experienced due to the itinerary. Capri is indeed a stunning destination with much to offer, and we strive to provide our guests with the best possible experience within the time constraints of a day tour. High tides and other factors beyond our control can sometimes affect the availability of certain attractions, such as the Blue Grotto. We always aim to offer alternatives, like the boat ride around the island, to ensure that our guests still have a memorable experience. We appreciate your feedback and hope that, despite the time limitations, you were able to enjoy the highlights of Capri or get a smattering of what it has to offer so next time you can spend more time and take advantage of our multi-day tours. Warm regards, Gray Line Rome

Capri tour

The tour we booked was not worth the money we spent on it, unfortunately. The price of the tour compared to what you receive is not comparable, and the cost outweighs what you see. It was a nice day still enjoyed going there just thought the tour was too expensive.

Dear John, thank you for taking part and for sharing your experience! We are sorry the tour to Capri didn't live up to your expectations. We sent you a private message yesterday because we probably know what happened that day and we would like to make it up to you. To that end, we need to locate your booking in our systems. Awaiting your kind reply. Best, Gray Line Rome

Do not book this tour. It is a tourist trap.

This tour does not describe that purchasers have to wait in a boat in the sun without cover for 1-2 hours just for their turn to be taken into the blue grotto by a smaller paddle boat. The cave is surrounded by other boats with passengers waiting to enter. There is no order or clear organized process by which the paddle boats select the boat/passengers they take. Boats are cutting other boats off, and people are yelling at one another across boats. There were kids on my boat taking dramamine because they too did not expect to get stuck on a boat for this long and in the sun. There are other tour groups offering a visit to a grotto where you are able to swim - that is not this tour. The paddleboat, takes you into a cave for less than 5 minutes with a line up of other boats surrounding you, then they ask you for a tip before they paddle you outside the cave. Absolutely terrible tourist trap.

Dear customer, thank you for sharing your feedback about your experience with our tour in Capri from Rome. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment you may have encountered during your visit to the Blue Grotto. We appreciate your concerns, and we would like to address them. We understand that the waiting time and the lack of shade at the boat before entering the Grotto can be frustrating. We apologize for any discomfort caused by the extended wait in the sun. We acknowledge that the process of selecting boats and passengers can be chaotic at times, and we apologize for any confusion or lack of organization you may have experienced. Regarding the duration of the visit to the cave, we strive to provide a memorable experience, and we regret that the time spent inside the Grotto was shorter than anticipated. We will take your feedback into consideration to improve our tour offerings. As for the requests for tips from the paddleboat operators, we are sorry if it made you feel uncomfortable. While tipping is a customary practice in some tourism settings, we understand that it should never be forced or requested in a way that compromises the guest's experience. We will address this issue with our staff and the Blue Grotto staff in Capri to ensure it is handled appropriately in the future. We value your feedback, as it helps us identify areas where we can improve our services. We would like to assure you that we take customer satisfaction seriously, and we are continuously working to enhance our tour experience. Kind regards, Gray Line Rome

Rough Seas

Water was so rough going to the island, they were handing out barf bags. Many people around me were getting sick. I haven’t had seasickness since I was about 10, now 53, and I was struggling myself. Of course, when we got there, the Grotto was closed because of rough seas and wind. We should have never left Naples. Bad experience and bad management of the excursion.

Réponse de l'opérateur

Dear Ryan, thank you very much for bringing this to our attention and we are sorry that your felt that the excursion was handled with a little bit of incautiousness! However, we can tell for sure that, given that ferries and boats were actually leaving the gulf of Naples, it was safe to navigate the waters to Capri. On the contrary, it would not have been possible to reach the island if the alert was higher than a certain degree. This said, we are sorry you didn't get to see the Grotto, we hope weather conditions will be better next time! But we hope you liked the rest of the island... Waste of Time and Money!!

The tour started late and ended early. The Blue Grotto was unorganized and both my wife and I weren't feeling well from the motion and hot sun. We couldn't even enjoy our lunch. Barely explored Capri. This tour was the only downside to our Italy vacation. There are better tours out there. Full credit to Viator for helping me get a refund!

Dear Todd, we are sorry for the inconvenience and for you not being able to fully enjoy the tour! The Blue Grotto part is handled by a local company and visits aren't easy sometimes due to the crowds and the peculiar characteristics of the site. We appreciate your comments though, and we're glad your issue has already been handled by Viator and your credit card refunded. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Feedbacks Team

Wonderful day spent at capri island

We almost thought we are lost but the tour operator called us and made sure we meet our guide Sacha, sacha was a great guide so cheerful so energetic and helpful. blue grotto was so magical but the wait of an hour to go inside the cave was a spoiler my kids and husband got sea sick because of the wait in the boat for an hour and couldn’t go inside the cave even after waiting for so long but not that anything could be done about it as 10-15 big boats are waiting at the same time to send their passengers in the cave and there are limited small boats to go inside the cave but once you are on small boat it takes 5 minutes to go in and come out. Lunch was super delicious just wish had some more time after lunch to go around and do some shopping on the top rather than coming back down there was nothing much to do there. But all in all very good tour 5* to sacha

Bad excursion

Very few. The excursion did not go to Blue Grotto, spent 5 minutes in Capri and was overly crowded. Very bad experience and I would not recommend.

Dear Kevin, we appreciate your comments and totally understand your viewpoint! The summer in the south of Italy is pretty hot in all senses, being the scene always very crowded and warm. We are sorry you didn't enjoy Capri fully and we take 'spent 5 minutes' is a figure of speech because time in Capri is meant to be much longer and at your leisure. If this wasn't the case, please let us know. Best regards, Gray Line Rome Reviews Team
