There were 8 of us on this journey so we were in 2 vans. It was a long 3 hour drive to Algarve but our guides Bernardo and Rodrigo made the trip quite entertaining. We absolutely loved the boat ride, the sea cave tours and lunch, and overall those experiences were well worth the travel time!
We had a lovely experience with our driver Bernardo and we loved the boat tour around the caves of Algarve. The boat was not too crowded and the views were all spectacular. Bernardo was a great guide and very friendly. We stopped by a beautiful smaller coastal town on the way back, which looked like Santorini. The car was clean and pleasant. Thanks for a great time.
Did this day tour from Porto to Lisbon and honestly, it was a packed but brilliant experience. The drive down was long (as expected – it's quite a stretch), but comfortable enough. The guide was friendly and gave us just enough info along the way without making it feel like a school trip. Once we arrived in Lisbon, we had about four hours of free time, which I thought wouldn’t be much, but I managed to squeeze in quite a bit! Walked around Alfama, grabbed a couple of pasteis de nata (absolutely unreal), and took the tram up through the old parts of town. I even had time for a quick beer by the river at Praça do Comércio – lovely spot to just sit and soak it all in. Obviously, four hours isn’t nearly enough to properly explore the city, but it gave me a good feel for the place, and now I definitely want to come back and spend a few days. The ride back to Porto was smooth, and we were back in time for a late dinner. If you're based in Porto and curious about Lisbon, it’s a great way to get a little taster without worrying about trains or planning everything yourself. Just wear comfy shoes – Lisbon’s hills aren’t messing about!
Our private tour from Lisbon to the stunning Algarve region exceeded every expectation! Bernardo provided an absolutely exceptional experience that made our Portuguese adventure truly unforgettable. The Journey The scenic drive from Lisbon to Portimão was transformed into an engaging cultural experience thanks to Bernardo’s wealth of knowledge about Portuguese history, culture, and local traditions. Every mile of the journey was filled with fascinating stories and insights that brought the beautiful Portuguese landscape to life. Exceptional Service What stood out most was Bernardo’s genuine warmth and friendliness. The conversation flowed naturally throughout the day, making us feel like we were exploring with a knowledgeable friend rather than just a tour guide. His accommodating nature was evident in every interaction – he was flexible with timing, attentive to our interests, and went above and beyond to ensure we had the perfect experience. Benagil Sea Caves - A Highlight The boat ride to the famous Benagil Sea caves was absolutely breathtaking! Bernardo’s local connections and expertise ensured we had the best possible experience viewing these natural wonders. The coordination was seamless, and his knowledge of the area’s geology and marine life added so much depth to this bucket-list experience. Why We Highly Recommend • Incredibly informative: Deep knowledge of Portuguese culture, history, and local attractions • Genuinely friendly: Warm personality that made the entire day enjoyable • Highly accommodating: Flexible and attentive to our needs and preferences • Excellent organization: Smooth logistics from start to finish • Great value: An experience that far exceeded what we paid for Final Thoughts This private tour was hands down the highlight of our Portugal trip. Our guide’s passion for their country, combined with their professionalism and genuine care for providing an outstanding experience, made this day absolutely perfect. We returned home with incredible memories and a much deeper appreciation for Portugal’s beauty and culture. If you’re considering a private tour in Portugal, look no further. This was an investment in an experience we’ll treasure forever. Highly recommended without reservation!
The road trip was actually pretty fun. Jonathan was our driver and he was very fun to visit with, keeping the trip lively, asking questions, sharing stories. The boat tour was amazing, but went a little fast. Basically an hour on a zodiac-type raft so we could go inside the caves. We were given the opportunity to swim but the water was choppy and only a few wanted to do it. I would have preferred more time on the water and less walking around — Portimão is fairly touristy. We had a great lunch with our tour guide and headed back to Lisbon at the end of the day, with the same energy as we left. Really great guide! We loved Jonathon!
From beginning to end, this was a wonderful trip. Our driver/ guide Bernando was informative and kind. He was a true gentleman always making sure we were comfortable and happy. The Bengali cave did not disappoint. Amazing!
We are extremely thankful for the opportunity. My sister, my mum and I had a lovely time and the sites were beautiful. Our tour guide, Joãn, was a terrific tour guide, and we all appreciate his help. Especially in keeping us entertained during the long car rides. They also accommodated the trios need to my wheelchair and provided all the necessary information regarding accessibility for the boat trip (this was paid on the day of the trip, separately). He also helped us locate a halal restaurant that also suited our taste buds.
Outstanding Private Transfer—Perfect in Every Way! This was hands down the best way to travel from Lisbon to the Algarve! Our personal driver was not only professional and punctual but also incredibly knowledgeable, sharing interesting insights about Portugal along the way. The ride was smooth, comfortable, and tailored to our pace—we even made a few scenic stops at his recommendation. Truly couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you want a stress-free, enjoyable journey with a top-notch driver, book this transfer without hesitation. 10/10!
The caves are amazing! The drive to Algarve is long but scenic. Tour guides are very knowledgeable about the history. Highly recommend!
Boat trip not included in price. Otherwise, the tour was nice, the vehicles were clean and spacious, the drivers were friendly. They took us to beautiful overlooks and gave us some time to walk around. Although the boat trip wasn’t included, it was a good time and the caves were worth the extra $35 euros.
