Évadez-vous le temps d'une journée à Amman et découvrez l'un des joyaux anciens de la Jordanie, en ayant la chance de voir différents sites historiques et religieux lors de cette excursion privée d'une journée. Visite de l'ancienne ville de Madaba, connue pour sa mosaïque, en particulier sa carte en mosaïque du VIe siècle de Terre Sainte dans l'église orthodoxe grecque de Saint-Georges. Le départ se fait depuis Amman. Après la prise en charge à votre hôtel, montez dans un véhicule climatisé avec chauffeur privé Anglais et Wi-Fi à bord. Observez et contemplez les paysages désertiques de la Jordanie lorsque vous voyagez vers le sud à Madaba. Le chauffeur vous aidera à trouver des lieux d'intérêt et vous fournira des renseignements précis le long du parcours; toutefois, il ne vous servira pas de Guide. À votre arrivée, découvrez cette ancienne ville en mosaïque dont l'histoire remonte au IIe siècle. La plus connue est la carte en mosaïque de la Jordanie et de la Terre sainte du VIe siècle dans l'église orthodoxe grecque de Saint-Georges, marquée de points liés à des histoires historiques mentionnées dans la bible.
Cette église catholique romaine du XIXe siècle offre une attraction unique : vous pourrez escalader son clocher pour une vue panoramique sur la ville de Madaba.
Montez ensuite au mont Nebo, une montagne sacrée en Jordanie, située à environ 817 mètres d'altitude. Le mont Nebo est imprégné de signification religieuse car il présente un important site de pèlerinage judéo-chrétien. C'est là que Moïse a vu pour la première fois la Terre promise depuis le sommet et où le prophète Moïse serait mort. De plus, des moines égyptiens ont construit un petit monastère au sommet à la mémoire de Moïse. Au IVe siècle, cette église a ensuite été reconstruite en basilique. Cette basilique, qui se dresse encore aujourd'hui sur le mont Nebo, abrite une collection de mosaïques byzantines bien conservées. Les mosaïques illustrent des images de la faune et de la chasse. Ce site n'est pas seulement un point d'intérêt pour les passionnés d'histoire, mais offre une vue panoramique sur la Terre Sainte et la vallée du Jourdain depuis le sommet.
Le site de baptême de Jésus-Christ est situé sur le côté Jourdain du Jourdain. Found I had an extra day in Amman so booked this trip at the last minute. Picked up by Ibrahim right on time. He smartly suggested an alternate itinerary to help avoid the heat of the day, so we started at the Baptismal site. Very interesting to see the old church locations. A group was also baptized in the Jordan while we were there which was cool to see. Then off to Mt Nebo. Awesome views of the Dead Sea and Jericho. And the old mosaics in the church were intricate. Quick stop at a mosaic store where they showed handcrafted mosaics painstakingly done by women which can take them months to complete. Then off to St George’s church and the Beheading of John the Baptist Church. Lots of interesting things in John the Baptist Church including the old well and the bell tower where you can see the surrounding area. On way back, Ibrahim made a quick pit stop and got us some juice from a stand which was refreshing after a long day. Quick notes and “good to knows”: none of the itinerary is covered by Jordan Pass which was disappointing since I thought a couple of the places would be. Ibrahim had water available which was very nice and needed. No food stops, so plan accordingly or work that out with the driver. Overall a good experience.

The tour was wonderful, visited Citadel, Román theatre and king Abdullah blue mis que. Then allá the way to Madaba city : St George, st John churches, everything was amazing historial sites, finally to Mount nebo. Bader was our guide in this experience, because he speaks several languages and we could converse in Spanish, his treatment was very friendly and pleasant as he knows very well the tourist sites we visited. You should take this tour because you tour sites of great historical importance accompanied by local people who guide and help you along the way.
