Great food tour with Sarah. There were only the four of us, so it was very personalized. Enjoyed all the stops, though the food portions were pretty small. I would think you could spring for more than one donut to split among 4 people! It would also have been nice to have some drinks included at some stops.
Excellent tour with Sarah! We had several stops, sampled all sorts of things from popcorn to seafood to chocolate and ice cream. It was a pleasant stroll, nothing too hilly or strenuous. This is a great way to spend a couple hours.
Sarah was a very good guide through a rainy Hobart food tour. We appreciated that they gave us the tour even though we were the only two people who had signed up. We sampled the scallop pie, smoked salmon, chocolate, donuts and ice cream. There was also a stop for oysters or shrimp. In fact this is the only stop I would recommend they rethink. First, not everyone likes raw oysters. The shrimp substitute was okay but a little hard to eat and quite messy. The place looks like they made some nice soups and perhaps one of those would be a better choice than the seafood items we had. Just a thought.
Met with Greg 'Dave' for an informative and yummy food tour starting at Salamanca Square. We visited some excellent food places and got to try delights of Hobart...places one wouldn't even know existed, but their handcrafted meats, chocolates, pastries etc were first class! I personally learnt a lot about the history of the area as we walked around, as well as the delicious foods this region of Tassie produces. Had a thoroughly enjoyable morning!
The food tour was really good, we tried some foods unique to Tasmania and each of the vendors were excellent and shared the stories of their food. The tour includes some delicious seafood including fresh oysters and scallop pie. Sarah was a great host.
Hi there, thanks so much for the lovely review! We’re so glad you enjoyed the tour and got to taste some uniquely Tasmanian flavours — and great to hear each vendor helped bring it all to life with the stories behind the food. Fresh oysters and that scallop pie are hard to beat! We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Sarah, she’ll be thrilled. Happy tasting! The Daves
A bit of walking, some history and fun food that is a good representation of Hobart, Tasmania and Australia. We had a blast with Sarah and highly recommend her for the tour.
Hi Geoff, thanks so much for the great review! We loved that you enjoyed the mix of walking, local history and fun food — it’s exactly what we aim for, and we love hearing it felt like a great taste of Hobart (and Tassie/Australia too). We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Sarah, she’ll be wrapped. Eat well & travel happy! The Daves
Great host who let us experience lots of seafood , beef , chocolate , icecream and more. Very informative and great fun. Lots of local fresh produce ,
Hi there, thanks so much for the great review! So glad you enjoyed tasting your way around Hobart — from fresh seafood and Tassie beef through to chocolate and ice cream (the important food groups 😄). Great to hear you found it informative, fun, and packed with local produce. Hope we can host you again next time you’re in Tassie. The Daves Bon appétit!
For the price we paid I was underwhelmed by the variety and quantity of food. I recommend an alternative be offered for the oysters. The guides were knowledgeable.
Hi there, thanks for coming along and for your review. We’re sorry to hear you felt underwhelmed. The tour includes 7 stops and usually includes multiple tastings at several venues — most guests finish the experience comfortably full — so we’re surprised it didn’t hit the mark for variety and quantity on your day. Regarding oysters: we include them because they’re central to Hobart’s waterfront story and local produce, but we understand they aren’t everyone’s favourite. Where possible our guides do offer an alternative (often prawns) and we’ll work on making that clearer at the start of the tour. Great to hear you found the guides knowledgeable. Cheers, The Daves
I've heard all about the amazing food in Tassie, and this tour really delivers! Everything was fresh, tasted incredible, and you can tell the local sellers are proud of what they offer. It was good variety of food, and the guide was lots of fun. I did their pub tour afterwards which was a perfect combo - highly recommend the tour alone or to do both! What a great intro to Tassie, even got a shirt as a souvenir to mark the occasion!
Thanks so much for the awesome review, The Dave's love hearing this! We’re thrilled the tour delivered on Tassie’s food reputation, and that you enjoyed the freshness, variety, and meeting the passionate local producers along the way. Great to hear your guide made it even more fun too. And doing the Food Tour plus the Pub Tour after is the ultimate Hobart combo - excellent choice 🍻😄 Even better that you grabbed a shirt to mark the occasion, rock the Dave's Eats Hobart merch! Stay Delicious. The Daves
The tour surprised me with the wonderful variety of great food that was available. Some of the food was simple but delicious (flavoured popcorn) and some was gourmet I didn't expect. I thought I could find these places on my own but the places I was taken to I would never have gone into on my own. The guides were quite friendly, knowledgeable and made sure we were well looked after. If you're in Hobart, take the taste sensational tour.
Hi Andrew, Thanks for the wonderful review! We’re so glad the Dave's Eats Hobart Food Tour surprised you with such a great mix of simple treats and gourmet bites — and even better that you discovered places you wouldn’t have found on your own. That’s exactly what we aim for. Lovely to hear the guides looked after you so well too. Hope you’re still full, The Daves
