Le temple suspendu, une zone touristique nationale de niveau AAAA, est situé entre les falaises du pic Cuiping, du côté ouest des gorges de Jinlong à Hengshan, comté de Hunyuan, ville de Datong, province du Shanxi. Il s'appelait à l'origine « Pavillon Xuankong », avec « Xuan » dérivé des enseignements taoïstes chinois et « Kong » dérivé des enseignements bouddhistes. Il a ensuite été rebaptisé « Temple suspendu » car l'ensemble du temple est comme suspendu à une falaise. En chinois, « Xuan » et « Xuan » sont des homophones, d'où le nom. [15] Le temple suspendu a été construit à la fin de la dynastie des Wei du Nord (491 après JC) et a une histoire de plus de 1 500 ans. C'est un temple unique qui combine le bouddhisme, le taoïsme et le confucianisme. L'architecture du « Temple suspendu » est très particulière, connue pour sa précipitabilité comme face à un abîme. Il est connu sous le nom d'argot « Temple suspendu, haut d'une demi-journée, trois queues de cheval suspendues dans les airs », et est connu pour sa précipitation comme s'il faisait face à un abîme.
Les grottes de Yungang ont été fouillées il y a plus de 1 500 ans lors de l'expédition orientale d'Alexandre. Il existe actuellement 45 grottes principales, 252 niches de différentes tailles et plus de 59 000 sculptures en pierre, ce qui en fait un trésor d'art rupestre chinois. Les grottes de Yungang, en tant que première grotte royale autorisée en Chine, reflètent l'ambition politique de la dynastie Wei du Nord. Comparées à de nombreux temples-grottes en Chine, les grottes de Yungang ont le style le plus occidentalisé. Parmi eux, il y a des éléments de l'art indien et de l'Asie occidentale, ainsi que des styles architecturaux grecs et romains, des motifs décoratifs et des caractéristiques visuelles, reflétant la relation d'origine avec les principales civilisations du monde. Ceci est unique dans le trésor de l’art chinois et revêt une grande importance pour le développement de la culture et de l’art chinois dans les générations futures. En 2001, les grottes de Yungang ont été inscrites au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.

We were looking for a transportation service to reach Yungang Grottoes and we found this one that drove us to the Hanging Temple, beside Yungang Grottoes. So it was the perfect solution for us. The driver was really helpful. We've chosen to buy the attractions entrance tickets by ourselves, but for the Hanging Temple was not so easy to buy tickets. The agency helped us booking the tickets and the driver helped us to pick them up. So everything went so smooth and fast. If I'd had to book this tour again, I wouldn't change a thing. Everything was perfect!

Great experience! We were followed from the moment of booking. Nancy, via chat, organized everything perfectly and shared all the necessary information, arranging so that we would pick up at our hotel and take us directly back to the station on the way back, in time to catch the next train of our trip. Fantastic day trip to the hanging monestary and Yungang grotto. Nancy’s communication before the trip was great and really helpful. Our driver Lee collected us from the lobby of our hotel. Took us to make sure we got our tickets and got the shuttle bus. He waited in the car while we visited the sites then took us back to our hotel. The sites we visited were absolutely amazing. We had a fabulous day.

We only have good words for Nancy and her drivers. They were very professional, pick us up at the exact time, good driving experience (not always is like this in China) and even, she solves a big problem we had with the cancellation of a train, and in few hours, se gave us an alternative with a good driver. Driver Mr Li picked me up from the train station. From Datong South Rail station to Hanging Temple was about 1 hour in automobile. Driver was great. I highly recommend this trip. I was supposed to go to the Grottoes but I was too tired and decided to go back to the hotel (but this was my choice). From Hanging Temple to the hotel is also about 1 hour. If you are vacationing by yourself I highly recommend to purchase a private tour as you will have the flexibility to adjust the trip as you see fit. Thanks for a great experience.
Excellent communication and management from Nancy, she advises you and manages the customized tours, which makes the experience of China much easier for foreigners. They have tours in different cities. We personally took three tours with her in 3 different cities (Chengdu, Beijing and Datong) and we had an excellent experience in all of them.
