This was a top experience! We got a lot of information about the wines and it was nice to hear everything and try to smell and taste for ourselves. The combination with the snack were also very good. After that we went to the restaurant geken where we were excellently helped and also had delicious food
This was a great night, it is only a short experience, not a tour but a brilliant experience all the same. We had a wonderful host that wowed us with her knowledge and talent with wine and food. This consisted of some cheese and cured meats. It was not quantity here but quality, they were selected with 5 wines, 3 white and two red, all from the local area. The disappointing part was that there wasn’t enough people to witness how good this was. The wine were of high quality and we went through a journey which tested our senses, sight, taste and smell, we all gained knowledge of what made the wines so well balanced and structured. The other couple who came were equally pleased with the evening. All this took place in a private room at the back of the restaurant/bar so after we went into the bar and sat at a table, I ordered more wine accompanied with croquettes and a hummus dip that was so smooth and delicious. They had layered the top with various spices. It was a brilliant night and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
honestly this was an incredible introduction to the basque region and the wines of the area, Irene was so wonderful, I did this my first day in Bilbao and fear I may have spoiled myself for the rest of my trip
I surprised my mother with this wine tasting for mother's day. My mother and I had a very good wine tasting here! Irene, the wine sommelier, took us on a amazing journey through the vineyards of the Basque Country and the Rioja region. The two typical Basque wines, two varieties of Txakoli, were very pleasant. Also the last wine, a red wine of which I forgot the name, was amazing. All of that in a bar alongside the Nervión River. Definitely a recommendation! ;)
Friendly, comfortable, accesible by foot and knowledgeable sommelier. Very fnjoysbke group experience.
A very good evening tasting nice local wines with a couple of snacks. The sommelier (can't remember her name sorry!) was excellent. Fluent English and knowledgable. There were about 10 of us round a table and we tasted 5 wines. It was fun.
Irene was a great host ! She is a wine passionnate and provides great explanations, tips and advice for a better understanding of the local wine produced in the region. Wines were amazing ! I truly recommend !
Good value both for the drinks and the sommelier. Irene is very knowledgeable and engaging and we came away feeling we had learned a great deal about these delicious Basque wines. Pairing the wines with local cheeses and meats added an extra dimension to the experience. The atmosphere was great fun and we were lucky to be with just one other couple so the atmosphere was intimate and fun throughout. At the end of Irene’s session we were able to stay in the room and continue drinking the remains of the wines and chat. A really good experience overall and one we would highly recommend.
Delicious wines with snacks and everything explained by expert! Excellent location where you can also eat well.
We learnt a lot about the regions and different wines and what cheeses or meats they complement
