Good tour content and not rushed. Good communication and pick up. Milas the driver was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Ivor and his wife the winery owners were friendly and interesting. The tour size, just four people, was perfect and the hosts made us feel very welcome.
Great experience. Small vineyard but gives good info about wine made in area. All the wine was very good. I also liked the liquors that wife makes
This trip was sold by TUI as visiting 3 Vineyards with wine tasting and a journey on a scenic train. Firstly this trip is expensive (currently about £68 pp). Secondly, it isn’t a wine tasting excursion and although you get to see several small and local vineyards they are from sight only whilst on the train. Definitely be mindful of where your hotel is compared to the drop off at the train. From Slano we spent almost 4 hours travelling to get to the tour and back to the hotel. There are actually 4 stops on the tour. You do get to drink some wine but it isn’t wine tasting in the traditional way. You are served a small glass. There is no detail about how it is made! Other stops include how olive oil is made and a stop at an old mill. The trip is LONG and quite boring. The train is sweet and quirky and there is no doubt that by travelling on/off this train you get to see Croatia’s countryside which is stunning. There is no question about how beautiful the landscape is. Is it worth £68??? I don’t think so!
Excellent from pick up & tour!
Fabulous wine tour with fantastic local knowledge from local family. Gorgeous setting and beautiful food and wine
We had a great time at the vineyard. Everything was delicious and beautiful! Our driver Goran was also great!
We were really looking forward to this trip, having done many similar trips before. The driver was 20 mins late due to traffic. The wine tasting itself was ok and the owners were nice people and we bought some wine. We missed the actual sunset at Cavtat which was a little disappointing . The driver however was rude and very money driven. He complained we didn’t buy enough wine, he was trying to force us to tip and said he wanted €80 to take us to our villa, this then reduced to €50 but we said we could get a taxi for €25. At this point he was angry and dumped us in a shopping centre car park and told us we F****d up! We were very shocked!!!
The trip started with a 40 minute drive from Dubrovnik to a small family owned and operated vineyard from the 1400’s. The charcuterie contained homemade cheeses, smoked meats and homemade bread that paired nicely with 4 different generously poured wines from the family vineyard. The family history and conversation with guests from other countries was a highlight. The evening ended with a sampling of several delightful brandies.
Do not waste your money on this! Picked up by a driver who didn't speak English. Driven 1.5 hours to a basic winery in the valley. Given basic wines & a share platter dismal by croatian standards. Had to go out and eat after. Dropped off at a village called Cavtat with no warning & told to be back in an hour then driven back to Dubrovnik. Total rip off.
There were six of us (3 couples) and we all agreed that it was the best wine tasting we ever went to - a small family run vineyard where in addition to the wines, the tasting included meat, cheeses, vegetables produced there and bread baked that morning. Included were 4 full glasses to sample: Rose, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, and Cabernet., followed by 5 shots of different types of grappa. Lovely spot and the stop in Cavtat to see the sun set finished off the day perfectly. Our driver was prompt and attentive and picked us up at our hotel at the designated time.
