Didn’t even get to attend because they mixed up the dates and shop was closed. Was looking forward to this, so really bummed that they didn’t plan it well.
It is not wheel chair or collator accessible. While their was a small bench most must stand for the duration of presentation and tasting. Very knowledgeable presenter.
Really enjoyable 35 minutes. The owner wss very informative and kindly completed the session even though I was there solo
Knowledgeable host and excellent tasting chocolate, and enjoyable experience.
The owner of Léon chocolate was crazy knowledgeable with a fascinating past on how he got in the industry. The tour was only 35 minutes but I felt like he could make it two hours and still hold my interest. Oh yeah, we were able to sample some great chocolate as well!!
Very nice tasting experience. Good chocolate. Special taste. We enjoyed it very much. The owner is professional and kind.
We booked a chocolate tasting experience that was advertised as a “museum tour,” but in reality it felt more like a small shop with a talk attached to it. We were instructed to arrive 5 minutes early, which we did. Despite this, we waited over 10 minutes outside, with no communication at all. No staff came out, no explanation was given — it felt as if our reservation had simply been forgotten. When we went inside to ask, we were told to wait another 20 minutes until the tasting ended, after which we would be called. We waited. People started leaving the room — and still, no one called us. Once again, we had been forgotten. We eventually entered last, taking the final available seats. After that, another couple was brought in and given chairs, while a further pair was asked to stand, with no attempt to make the situation more comfortable. It was clear that capacity and seating were poorly planned, which created an awkward and unpleasant atmosphere. The presentation itself was engaging, and the chocolates were nicely displayed and explained. However, the actual tasting was disappointing: each chocolate was cut in half and shared between guests. For a paid tasting experience, this felt inadequate. At times, it even seemed like there weren’t enough chocolates prepared, forcing guests to wait or ask for their portion — an uncomfortable situation no customer should be in. Most disappointing of all was the complete lack of compensation or acknowledgment for the 25–30 minutes of delay. No meaningful apology, no gesture of goodwill — not even a full chocolate offered to make up for the lost time. An apology alone does not compensate for time wasted. Time is valuable. To be fair, the chocolates themselves were genuinely delicious — high quality, well-crafted, and enjoyable. Unfortunately, good products cannot fully make up for poor organization and lack of respect for visitors’ time. This experience could be much better with proper time management, adequate seating, and a more generous and professional approach to tastings.
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. While we’re pleased to hear you enjoyed the quality of the chocolates and the presentation, we’re sorry the overall experience did not fully meet your expectations. To address a few points: this experience is a guided tasting, not a traditional museum visit. It focuses on bean‑to‑bar chocolate making, where guests taste six different handcrafted chocolates, each produced in small batches. From sourcing and roasting to refining and resting, a single batch can take up to five days, and our truffles require one to two additional days to ensure proper quality and maturation. This level of craftsmanship is exactly what the tasting is designed to showcase. Regarding portions, the tasting is intentionally structured to allow guests to compare flavors, origins, and textures—rather than to consume full bars. The price reflects the quality, craftsmanship, and educational component of the experience, not retail-sized servings. Efforts were made during your tasting to respect specific preferences and allergies, which required on-the-spot adjustments to ensure every guest was accommodated appropriately. We acknowledge that there was a delay at the start of your session and regret that this affected your comfort. This tour is extremely popular, and the majority of guests book within just a few hours of the start time, which can occasionally lead to full sessions. Seating is provided, and we are continuously improving crowd flow and timing. Guests who prefer a quieter setting are always welcome to choose one of our less busy time slots, which are clearly available at booking. Your feedback on organization and time management is noted and appreciated. We are actively refining these aspects to ensure an even smoother experience going forward. We thank you again for recognizing the quality of the chocolate itself, and we hope future guests will continue to enjoy the craftsmanship and passion that go into every tasting.
Absolutely delightful host very passionate and informative 👍 learnt alot and will definitely be more attentive when buying chocolate. Wish you every success for the future thank you 😊 x
I really enjoyed this experience, and how passionately the chocolate making process was explained. The chocolate tasting part was obviously great too. You can clearly see they care about the different flavours they create. I definitely would recommend this if you are going to Basel.
Excellent tasting. Very knowledgeable host. Fabulous chocolates. Such wonderful flavors-all made by the proprietor.
