Matthieu was a great tour guide. This trip was so informative. We are so glad we booked it. One of our favorite days so far!
Thank you very much. Mathieu
A beautiful day, rich in information and emotions. Mathieu ensures the link between the different sites both in the movement and in the enrichment of the audio guide. Although a program is pre-defined, customizing Service only for our couple allows for more than just a visit (a little nod to the Easy Company and its operational commander Richard D. WINTERS). In addition, Mathieu accompanies us on site to make a comment and answer our questions. Thus, we visited the Church of St. Mother Church (John M. Steele), its Airborn Museum, Utah Beach, Pointe du Hoc, Omaha Beach, the moving American cemetery, the intact battery of Longues, the Overlord museum... A short stop in Arromanches allowed us to locate the places for a future visit of its museum and circular cinema. That's why we highly recommend this trip in space and time with Matthew as your guide. A beautiful day, rich in information and emotions. Point du Hoc and going into the bunkers was chilling. Seeing the beaches and where the paratroopers dropped in gave significant cause for pause.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
Great way to have an educational and immersive Normandy experience in just one day. Our guide used both personal explanation and pre-recorded audio to provide context for each location en route. His car is a luxurious ride, and he is very pleasant company, looking out for our every need. We stayed at his family-run hotel and had breakfast there, so it was super convenient. We started around 0900 and were supposed to finish around 1800 (so a long day to begin with), but our tour took an hour longer due to high traffic at the sites (there was some kind of French holiday weekend going on), and our guide was very patient and accommodating despite having an extra long day with tourists. Can’t say enough positive things about the experience and would definitely recommend this for couples, or small groups
Thank you very much to stay in our hotel La Fontaine situated in Caen City Center Centre. Mathieu
Matthew was a great guide. He picked us up from our Airbnb on time and we had such a great D-day tour. There were 6 of us and the car was perfect for us. We were more interested in the British side of things so he was able to take us to museums and beaches focused on the British more. It was such an interesting and emotional day. Matthew was very knowledgeable and spoke great English, and was kind, polite and had a good sense of humour. He also offered to take us to Mont St Michel the next day after our other tour was cancelled. Very decent & reasonable price (a lot cheaper than our other tour) and he left us there for 3hours which was plenty of time. We were so happy to have been able to visit here. We all recommend Matthew and if we are back in the area we will be in touch for sure. Thank you Matthew for a couple of great days.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
We were pleased to have an all day private custom tour of DDay sites. We had a view of all 5 landing beaches, the paratrooper destination St Mere Eglise, many visitor centers, museums, memorials, equipment, bunkers, and bomb craters. We were impressed with the American Cemetery and also in contrast the German Cemetery. Matheu was informative, accommodating and a delightful tour guide. Highly recommend this tour if you are looking for DDay total emersion.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
We would highly recommend Mathieu for a private tour to Omaha and Utah Beach. We saw a lot! We would never have been able to see what we saw on our own. Mathieu gave us time to visit a couple museums and to see several sites while at the same time keeping us on track with our time so we could see everything we were hoping to see.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
My son (16yro) and I did this trip the second week in June 2019. Mathieu was a great tour guide. He is a local resident (runs a small hotel in Caen) and has done a really good job with his tour setup. He has an audio guide that he plays before you get to the spots in the car that was really good. He listened and customized the trip based on our interests & what we had already done. Highly recommended.
Thank you very much. Mathieu from Normandy private tours and Hotel Fontaine Caen Centre
My partner and I had an excellent time guided by the attentive Mathieu. He drove us to two of the four D-day beaches (Utah and Omaha), the German and American cemeteries and the village of Arromanche where you can see the artificial port constructed by the Allies and watch an interesting 360 movie highlighting the 4-Year German occupation in France til the 100-day Norman battle. Car very comfortable in an 8-hour tour (we skipped the many small museums along the journey). 100% worth of the money spent. Recommended for those spending one day in Caen.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
We did the full day tour (1 of 3) with Mathieu, our Hotel La Fontaine host. Excellent English recorded narrative, plus he speaks excellent English. Unlike many on the 75th anniversary his price has remained the same. Enjoyed our stay in his recently remolded ** hotel (only because there is no elevator) and he carried our bags to/from our room. Excellent WiFi/internet, good location, and good breakfast.
Thank you very much. Mathieu
