This was the best experience of our trip. We attended with 3 adults and 4 kids (ages 10-6) and could not recommend this enough! The girls were engaged and had time to both enjoy, learn, and soak in all of the beautiful family's culture. We loved Fabio and Antonella! They felt like family.
My wife and I booked this experience during our honeymoon, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our entire trip to Italy. From the moment we arrived at the family home of our instructor, Ilaria, near Siena, it felt less like a cooking class and more like being welcomed into an Italian family’s home for dinner. Ilaria showed us her amazing garden and home and taught us how to prepare a delicious homemade Italian meal. Together we made bruschetta, lazy pork bruschetta, Tortelli Maremmani, and tiramisu. The instruction was easy to follow and filled with many tips and techniques making cooking easy and fun. Throughout the evening, we enjoyed wine while cooking and learning about Tuscan food and culture. The best part came after the cooking was finished. We sat down and shared dinner with Ilaria, her husband, and their daughter in their garden. It felt like being invited to a family gathering rather than attending a tourist activity. After dinner, we enjoyed dessert wine and coffee before heading home. This was an amazing experience. The food was incredible, the hospitality was unforgettable, and the entire evening gave us a genuine glimpse into Italian family life. Five stars.
This was a truly special experience! Our hosts welcomed us into their home, taught us how to make three different authentic Italian dishes, and set up a beautiful table outside overlooking the Tuscan hillside for our meal together. My husband, two adult children, and I will remember this experience for years to come.
This was the most special meal and experience during our time in all of Italy! If you have the chance to cook with Antonella and Fabio don’t miss it, this is an experience of a lifetime. They are both incredible teachers and will treat you like family. Their son Giulio is lovely and translated for us as well but we all communicated perfectly and had so much fun. We made pici as well as spinach and ricotta ravioli with butter sage sauce and tiramisu for dessert. The food was so delicious and beyond that the hospitality was amazing. When we arrived we walked the garden of their beautiful home and learned about the herbs and vegetables we’d be using in the dishes. We are truly honored that we had the chance to share a meal with Fabio, Antonella, and Giulio!
Ilaria was such a gracious host at her beautiful home. She gave us specific instructions on the train service from Siena and she picked us up and dropped us off at the train station. She was a wonderful instructor and taught us how to make tiramisu and pasta. We enjoyed the food and had a delightful time with her husband and daughter. Will be a favorite part of our trip.
We booked because it said it would be held in Siena proper, but this class was about a 30 min car ride away. That’s quite alright because our teacher’s husband kindly offered to pick us up and drop us off at our hotel. The setting was beautiful so we were happy to see the Tuscan countryside and to be in a home rather than a restaurant or cooking school. My son (14) and I were the only students this day and Genny made us feel very welcome in her home. We learned how to make pasta from scratch—tagliatelle and spinach-stuffed ravioli, plus a tiramisú. It was quite easy to follow all the steps and we felt very successful. Nothing was too hard and Genny helped when needed. She had already prepared one sauce made from canned fresh tomatoes from her garden which was spectacular. The other sauce (for the ravioli) was made from butter, cheese and fresh sage from her garden. Also great. We then sat together and ate where the hospitality continued. We tried two kinds of Tuscan pecorino, homemade bread, delicious wine, and vin santo with the tiramisù which was such a treat. All more than we expected. If you have a free morning or afternoon to pass in Siena I highly recommend this class. (Also to note: I am a very experienced cook and thought the level of the class would be perfect for absolute beginners/teens learning to cook.)
We had the most amazing experience with our hosts, Antonella and Fabio, in their gorgeous home! They were gracious and fun hosts and we enjoyed the cooking experience and the eating that followed. We made hand rolled pasta (pici), a tomato soup (pappa al pomodoro) and tiramisu! They also sent us the recipes so we could make these dishes beech home! We would highly recommend this experience!
Great food, great experience! Would definitely recommend! We had a great time! We got a chance to have hands on experience and learn some Italian secrets
Absolutely loved it! Our host Ilaria was wonderful. We learned a lot, and not just about cooking. Beautiful food, lovely company. The children really enjoyed the experience too. Really recommend it!
We had an incredible experience with a fantastic family. Learning to cook pasta and other dishes in their home was truly fascinating. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, and we cherished every moment spent with them. One of our guests had to leave early, and the host’s husband kindly offered her a ride back to the hotel. This activity is a must-do when visiting Siena. It was the perfect way for our group to kick off our family trip to Italy.
