Very much worth the drive from Guatemala City! As a solo traveler, I was fortunate to have Pedro as my guide, and he made the experience truly memorable. I appreciated the fascinating history lessons, the introductions to local vendors, and the safe, comfortable transportation throughout the trip. One of the highlights was crossing beautiful Lake Atitlán, where the breathtaking views of the water and surrounding volcanoes were absolutely unforgettable. The scenery alone is worth the journey. What stood out most, however, was the kindness and warmth shown by everyone I met along the way. Pedro’s local knowledge and obvious love for sharing the essence of Guatemala made me feel welcome and at ease from start to finish. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Guatemala—it was a fun, enriching, and well-organized experience that exceeded my expectations.
I would like to leave comments on the private tour to Lake Atitlan that we had on May 6, 2026. It was a very unpleasant and disappointed experience. 1) Transportation. We were assigned a well-worn Toyota from an old model with the NON-reclining seats. He was very uncomfortable during all the transfers, and thus spending several hours. 2) Guide. Luis gave us very little information about the history and culture of the region, we were very disappointed with his service. 3) Schedules. We fulfilled the program in Atitlal earlier than planned and instead of taking us somewhere of interest or recommending a restaurant to eat or take us to the center of Guatemala City the guide just said “we will wait until the departure time here by the lake” and we sat there for more than an hour. 4) Food. In the morning we warned Luis that we do not eat meat and requested to take us to a high-end restaurant. But even though the guide was aware of this detail he did not take to an X restaurant on the road (I guess because there they courtesy) and when we asked to change the place he told them no, we no longer had time. And he said it after keeping us waiting 1.5 hrs in Atitlan!
This was a lovely day with a boat ride, site seeing and local shopping. Our guide Luis was wonderful. Best part of our trip to Guatemala was this tour
Overall, this was a good tour that I would recommend. It does end up being a long day (closer to 12 hours), but Lake Atitlan and San Pedro are worth it! My husband and I especially loved San Pedro. The mini workshops/tours were lovely and a great way to learn more about the local culture. They provided this portion in English and Spanish. The only reason for the four stars is because the tour is marketed as English, however our tour guide, that was with us the entire time, did not speak any English. The guide was very passionate and kind, and I could tell great with explaining things in Spanish. However considering this was quite a bit of money and 12 hours long, it was a bit frustrating to not understand my guide at all. I would suggest simply marketing this as a Spanish speaking tour to prevent confusion for the future.
What can I say about Luis and Ilsa. Luis made sure we got to Lake Atitlan safely and in a timely manner. Ilsa was an excellent tour guide who showed great patience with us when we couldn't keep up. She gave us a wealth of knowledge about the Guatemalan towns/tribes and their customs around the Lake and the country as a whole. I highly recommend this tour to Lake Atitlan. It was a wonderful experience.
thank you - very successful Good guide
My family and I had a wonderful time on the tour! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and did a phenomenal job showing us around the area while explaining the history and culture. Our driver Carlos was also very friendly and is a very experienced driver
So the experience is amazing the lake , the boat ride. Our tour guide and driver excellent. The travel is a too much .it is the only negative. Van ride for over 3 hours.
It was a trip to very beautiful part of the country surrounded by volcanoes and quaint villages. I would definitely recommend.
Best value, great experience. Full day trip, lot's of beautiful scenery, great shopping. Probably the best excursion.
