Description

Salma was super informative & efficient...
We had an awesome tour. Salma was our tour guide who is super friendly and helpful. It was also not rushed and slow paced which we enjoyed a lot
The guide, Carlos, was very good. He provided information and was friendly and professional. The trip involved a boat ride, cog train, gondola, and bus. So we covered it all! The views were spectacular and the mountain was beautiful. I definitely recommend the tour. A tip - when you get to the top eat at the cafeteria. They have a lot of choices and the food is very good. It’s not a buffet. You only pay for what you eat. The company that runs this tour is a complete failure. They say you will be emailed with instructions on where to meet at the train station. When I did not get the email, I called (twice) and messaged them (twice). I never got a response to either. We just went to the train station and wandered around hoping to find the group. As it turned out, another person had mentioned in their review they had the same issue and it was near platform 7 so I saw that review and we found the group. None of this has anything to do with Carlos or the quality of the tour, it’s clearly and admin issue, but you should know ahead of time if you have a problem you will not be able to get any help.
Wonderful Pilatus Tour!! Our guide Carlos was terrific - happy, enthusiastic and eager to tell you all about Lucerne/Pilatus. Highly recommended!!!!
Breathtaking views and a very relaxing event. The Best of Lucerne. Scenes that are only possible through this tour. Our guide, Salma, was extremely helpful and friendly !
First of all, the tour was fine. My gripe is when I got back to the hotel, I told the concierge about the tour. He told me I could have done this tour for a lot less money if I did it myself. In retrospect, she was 100% correct. I could've gone to the rail station and taken a train on my own time, stayed as long as I wanted. For the cruise portion, again Uber to the place and Uber back. Would've saved well over $100 each.
We had a lovely outing with Salma. She was an energetic guide who gave us lots of background information. The boat ride and cog train ride were pleasant. We had amazing views of Lake Lucerne and Mt Pilatus. The weather on the top wasn’t the best and the gondola portion was closed. Salma made sure to acquire tickets for the group so we could get back. We had a great time walking on top of the mountain. It’s a great activity for families.
We received a notice 3 days before that our event had been rescheduled. We were to be on a plane the rescheduled date. We canceled and received a refund. We did the trip ourselves for 1/2 the price. At the train station tourist info you can purchase tickets for the one hour cruise, the train or cog wheel train to the top of the mountain stay as long as you like and the gondola coming back down. Once back down walk a mile and take the above ground subway back to town for free using your hotel voucher. Well worth the trip without Viator.
I can’t really rate this specific tour offered by TripAdvisor through Tours of Switzerland because we did not go on this specific excursion as the local tour company changed the tour to one day later than scheduled without consulting us as to our availability. We were originally scheduled for July 10 and I received ticket for July 10 on July 8. Then all of a sudden on July 9 I received notification that it was “amended” to July 11. We were leaving Switzerland on the rescheduled date. If the tour was cancelled they should have at least asked if we would be available on July 11. We had gone to the Lucerne train station for the meetup with a guide on the original date (July10) just to see if a tour guide would show up and no one did. There was also another family of 5 looking for the guide for the same tour and they said they were never notified of a rescheduled date. all worked out though because my money was refunded by Viator/Tripadvisor and we were able to book the same exact tour on our original date through the Tourist information office (who were very professional and helpful) at the Lucerne train station for half the price. And were able to start the tour within 15 minutes of booking. The tour itself was great. I am not sure I would book again through Viator/TripAdvisor. The one positive is that they did promptly refund my money.
The tour exceeded our expectations! Lincoln was our guide. He was full of valuable information. He kept us engaged the entire time. This was truly an unforgettable day!!!!
