Our first tour of the trip! After landing in Venice all the way from the states, we were so grateful for this relaxing orientation to venice. We got so much information and understand the city better!
Tour was in a taxi and not in a wooden boat like the photos. Taxi was old and run down. Tour guide talked badly about “tourists” and the way they shop. His knowledge about the history was limited. We found ourselves correcting him several times. One strange thing was he kept asking us to leave our belongings (purse and backpack) on the taxi when we got off. Felt sketchy. Tour guide left us in the shopping district and not back where we started like it said. It was a 40 minute walk back. We mentioned we wanted to go back and he ignored us. Just awful experience. This was our 4th Viator tour this trip. The others were great.
Dear Client, Thank you for your feedback . I spoke with our guide Sergio as from your name I could trace back the booking. I try to answer to all various points you arise: Sergio is a professional guide with degree in art and history and has been one of our guides for about 20 years. Therefore I'm a bit surprised to read that you had to correct him . Also he would never speak badly about tourists as we all live on tourism - he was explaining that since tourism has increased, many venitians have moved out from Venice to live outside of Venice - and this is a true fact. The tour could have easily finished back to where it started ; Sergio understood that you wanted to visit the shopping area and therefore offered you to stop at Rialto, as the main shopping street is between Rialto and St Mark's. In regards to the boat, these are the regular water taxis that are used in Venice to operate these tours and although Sergio confirmed it was not a wooden taxi , we would never operate our tours with run down taxis boats - but if you have pictures of the boat, please share those. We are a professional tour company that have been in business for 24 years and have grown thanks especially to the great dedication and love we have for our business and for trying always our best to deliver quality experiences to our clients. Most of the times we succeed , others we don't,like in all businesses as it is impossible to please everybody, for many variable and subjective reasons as well. Kind Regards Monica
This was a great tour of some of the less touristy parts of Venice. It's divided up into the boat portion of the tour and the walking portion of the tour, that is mostly in the Jewish Ghetto. All the locations that were picked out were interesting and our guide did a good job of relaying information to us. The one issue we had was that in the boat portion of the tour, we were sitting outside in the back of the boat and weren't able to hear the guide who was sitting in the front.
There were 8 of us on this cruise and the boat used only had seating for 3 to 4 outside the cabin. Those seated inside the cabin really couldn't see what the tour guide was discussing/telling us to look at. A boat without the cabin should have been utilized Also, really not so many secret canals as the tour was titled, they were just canals that most tourists would not see since they were mostly away from the main tourist locations
Dear Client, Thank you for your feedback. In Venice the only boats allowed down the grand canal and that can be used to tour are the type of boats you were given for touring. We've been operating this tour for many years and our guides advice clients to stay outside in the open air - Generally there is room for 4 people in the back and 4 in the front - Majority of clients enjoy spend part of the time stading and part of the time seated. As for the secret/ hidden canals, our tour features many off the tourist routes canals to give you a different perspective of venice - this is what we intend for secret, seeing places of enchanting Venice most tourist don't see and visit. Yours sincerely, Monica
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke wonderful English. She took us to all the main attractions and then some, thank you
This was an excellent tour and I wholeheartedly recommend it! Georgia was our guide and she was superb. She gave lots of history and background on the city and the buildings. One of the highlights was our stop at the Jewish ghetto where we spent a significant time learning about how it came about and how it has transformed over the years. This was such a great introduction to our visit to the city! The driver was great and the boat was excellent and smooth. Perfect trip!
Lovely to travel all around Venice in boat with guide. Couldn’t quite hear all commentary from back, but a lovely couple hours
Dear Client, Thank you fo your feedback and I'm just a bit concerned, although you are spending good words of praise about our tour, that you could not properly hear the guide. Guides are supplied with a mike during these tours by boat - did you advise your guide about the issues you were having about hearing her speech properly? Anyhow I'm glad you've overall enjoyed the tour. Seeing Venice from the water, it just gives a completely different perspective to our unique city. Kind Regards, Monica
The tour was amazing and just what we were looking for. Nice chance to explore outside of city center and check out other areas. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and extremely friendly. Shared tour but ended up being private as noone else was on the boat. 10/10!
Dear Dustin, Thank you so much for your 5-star review! We are very happy the tour was amazing and we will certainly provide your comments to the guide. This tour was booked as a private experience so it was arranged only for you with no other people joining. Thank you for touring with us! Kind regards, Aleksandra Sales Manager @ Avventure Bellissime
We very much enjoyed our Venice Canal Cruise: 2-Hour Grand Canal and Secret Canals Small Group Tour by Boat organized tour in September 2019. The instructions were sent to us well in advance i.e. the departure point was St. Mark's Square Royal Gardens, Piazza San Marco and they provided detailed directions telling us to arrive at the meeting point at least 10 mins prior to departure which, having read some of the TripAdvisor feedback from other customers, we made sure we did. Even so it was still quite a hassle finding the tour guide via multiple cellphone calls as there is more than one entrance to the Gardens and the instructions despite being detailed were not specific. However, we met the guide and the other couple we were riding with and soon set off. The plus of this tour was the guide who was completely professional and friendly and super-knowledgable. Also seeing the neighborhoods outside of the main tourist area around San Marco such as Dorsoduro, Cannaregio, and the Jewish Ghetto, were much appreciated. We toured multiple small canals, cruised around the Arsenal, and at the end went out onto the Grand Canal before ending the journey floating beneath the Rialto Bridge and back to the start. Our guide never stopped imparting information and knowledge the whole time. He was wonderful. Here’s the thing though - only about half the tour was on a boat! After the first 30 mins we disembarked for a walking tour through the Jewish Quarter. Don’t get me wrong, this was interesting, seeing the Jewish buildings and especially the holocaust memorial, but the point is this was never mentioned before the trip. In any literature. If you book a 2-Hour Grand Canal and Secret Canals Tour shouldn’t the canals tour take two hours? And if it doesn’t, shouldn’t the tour be called a one hour boat tour/one hour walking tour?
Dear Client, Thank you for taking your time to provide your detailed feedback. I am very pleased our guide's knowledge and professional attitude are apreciated. As we have several male guides would you mind specifying your tour date so that we can check who was in schedule and forward your comments to the correct person? I can see you did not mention if you booked directly with us or via a third party. so I can only offer a general reply. On our website we mention that the tour features a stop for a visit of the Cannaregio district so yes this part of the tour is done by walking. If you booked via another tour operator please contact us with further details so that we can check if the information they provide is correct. Our meeting point for the tour is located: At the Entrance to the Royal Gardens on the water front of St. Marks Square. From St. Marks facing the Basilica turn right and walk towards the open water. At the two giant columns facing the water turn right, and following the line of trees after a 100 metres you will come to the entrance of the Royal Gardens where we will be waiting holding a sign with tour name written on it. I understand that overall you had a nice experience on the tour and you enjoyed your time exploring the secret corners of Venice with our expert guide. We appreciate your 4 stars rating and remain at disposal for any further clarification. Kind regards, Aleksandra Sales Dept
Booked well in advance and was really looking forward to this cruise but they cancelled it 2 days before as they were 2 people short of the minimum number of 5. Whilst I understand and offered to pay for another empty place they just cancelled it and it did leave us with selecting other trips at short notice
Dear Client, Not knowing any essential details like your reservation number or tour name and date I can offer only a general reply. Most of our small group tours have a minimum number required to operate these tours. This information is provided on all our website tour descriptions and our tour vouchers. If the reservation was placed via a reseller this information should also be included on their paperwork. Now I don't know which tour exactly you are referring to but generally speaking we check the sales situation of all our tours in advance and if we notice any dates that have not yet reached the min number we contact the customer to notify them about the situation offering for example alternative dates or other solutions (if available). I don't know all the details so it's difficult for me to address this review more, if you could please contact me with more details I will of course investigate the matter further. I remain at disposal Sincerely Aleksandra Sales Dept
