Great tour

We were fortunate to have a sunny calm day and we thoroughly enjoyed this cruise. We saw so many whales as well as dolphins. One pod of whales put on a show right by our boat. It was amazing!

Great organisation, Fun excursion

The staff of Fantasea organised everything and were very friendly and helpful. There were lots of whales in the area and they kept us posted along the way. It was also nice to have different places to view the sea and to watch for whale blow and movement along the way. While some people saw tails etc, or blow. We did not have a full sighting. It was good to know that they allow you to return on another cruise if a whale sighting does not happen on yours. One caution...if you get seasick, this may not be your activity.

A successful whale watching cruise

A great trip with Fantasea, convenient sailing point, comfortable boat and friendly crew. Chris the skipper was knowledgeable and informative, his two deckhands very helpful. We had lots of sightings, one breach and even a pod of dolphins and some minke whales.

Great and respectful experience of whale encounter

Great and respectful experience of whale encounter, with enthusiast crew, good advice, and you could feel respect towards the animals (not too close not too many boats…). Small detour on the way back to meet a wild seals colony… superd two hour escape! One important point they have two pick up locations, distant by five minutes each… this could be clearer on the tickets to avoid mishaps…

No Engagement from Guides, Waste of Time

To start off with, we didn’t see any whales so that was of course disappointing BUT understandable that it is so far out of the tour’s control. That said, I would have still expected SOMETHING out of the guides/skipper - commentary on Sydney over the loud speaker, mingling with guests, etc. But they just give a safety demo to start, then you spend two hours going out and back from the Harbour, and then you’re on your way - no interactions included. Leaving two stars because the view of the harbor was still cool and we saw a small pod of dolphins, but overall just disappointed. We got a coupon to go again since there were no whales, but obviously the majority of us don’t have another spare day to give while traveling and even if I did, I wouldn’t give my time to this tour again.

Too late in the season - no whales

Went in mid November. Didn't see in whales. If that was the tail end of the whale season and whales are unlikelyto be sptted during that time, then these tours should not be offered that late in the season.

Whales are not very visible

Interesting experience, nice views of the coast and the see, but we saw whales only occasionally and briefly in the distance.

Go see the whales - it's worth it!

A treasured experience to see such beautiful creatures in their environment. We were lucky to see a few whales, including a family of mother and calf with a companion. They kept away from us so couldn't get up very close but just seeing them surface and dive together was lovely. The boat we travelled on was a good size and comfortable. The crew were very competent and professional, ensuring we were safe and informed the whole time we were out at sea.

Definitely recommend

From the moment we boarded, it was clear we were in expert hands. They shared fascinating insights about whale behavior, migration patterns, and conservation efforts, making the experience educational as well as thrilling. We saw multiple whales up close, and the crew made sure everyone had a great view while keeping the animals’ wellbeing a top priority. What really stood out was how passionate the team was about what they do. Their enthusiasm was contagious, and they went above and beyond to make both trips special. We couldn’t recommend this experience more highly – if you’re considering a whale watching tour, don’t miss this one
