Did this workshop with my husband to create a creative seal, we had Yoshihiko as our guide and he was super kind and patient with us as he taught us how to make our stamps. We had a lot of fun and found the process very soothing with a souvenir that we will cherish forever and use in our future crafts. The english guide met us at an easy to find location and guided us to a beautiful private Japanese studio where we did the class. We were not rushed and learnt how to embrace wabi sabi with good company and good tea.

We participated in the stamp workshop in Kyoto. It was a wonderful experience. Choosing our own Kanjis ahead of time, enable us to create something personal and unique. The Yuragi travel concierge is so helpful before your workshop. They provided all the information we needed ahead of time. I thought this would be unusual and fun- and it exceeded all of my expectations. The tour guide, shop owner, and the shop owner’s mother went the extra mile to make this a 10/10 experience. We learned to carve our hanko, learned the significance of hanko (and our kanji), and learned about the history of the shop. The shop owners are rightfully proud of their artistry and history. Not artistic? No problem. Imperfection is beautiful (they kept reminding me!). My group of friends left with not only an amazing souvenir that we each made, but also a small framed display of our stamp and wonderful memories of this experience.

Fun, interesting and very enriching experience! The Mose guide (he speaks Italian) is very knowledgeable and supported us much before and during the experience. The shop where we carved our personal hankos is a small family craft reality: the artisan owners are very friendly and followed us step by step during the making of our hanko, with even an initial trial session to get hand with the tools. It was very nice to learn about this Japanese tradition and bring home this special and unique souvenir made by us! I highly recommend creating your own personal hanko!

This was our first trip to Japan, so we booked this class on a whim and it was such a great choice! The master craftsman was incredibly knowledgable, friendly and helped us fix any mistakes we made. We spoke English, and our translator was very fluent, so for anyone worried, it was very easy to understand, and take the class. It was well worth the time. I highly suggest this experience to anyone who wants a personalized and unique Japanese cultural item that you created yourself, and can bring home.

Great experience for the whole family! Highly recommend and was one of the highlights of our trip. Shosaku was the master artisan and Hina was our guide and translator. Everything worked out great from the meeting point to the entire experience. We all made our own personal hankos that we will have as unique souvenirs of our trip.
