Salut à tous, Je suis Alvaro, un Vénézuélien vivant sur la magnifique plage de Tamarindo, au Costa Rica, instructeur de surf et directeur de Tidal Wave Surf Academy. Mon voyage avec le surf a commencé au Venezuela, il y a 18 ans, sur une plage appelée Chirimena, et j'ai surfé sur presque toute la côte centrale du Venezuela. Il y a quatre ans, je suis arrivé à Tamarindo, je suis tombé amoureux de cette ville balnéaire et j'ai commencé à donner des cours de surf. Je suis un instructeur de surf certifié certifié ISA et j'ai une vaste expérience dans l'enseignement du surf aux enfants et aux adultes. Le surf m'a apporté équilibre, calme et sens, et j'aime transmettre la passion du surf en enseignant aux gens ce sport qui m'a tant apporté. Je suis ravi de partager mes connaissances et mon expérience avec vous et de vous aider à tirer le meilleur parti de votre expérience de surf. Je crois que l'océan est une source de paix et de détente pour les personnes de tous âges.

Today was my first day ever to surf at 54. Alvaro was a great teacher. Few words. All of them perfect and at the perfect moment in our 2 hour lesson. I will definitely call again when we return.
If you’re even thinking about taking surf lessons in Tamarindo—do it, and book with this crew. It was truly one of the highlights of our entire trip. We had a group of 10, all complete beginners, and every single person walked away absolutely loving the experience. From the very start, the vibe was perfect—informative but laid-back, structured but still fun. There was zero pressure, just constant encouragement and great energy. Alvero and his team were incredible. They broke everything down in a way that made it easy to understand, gave helpful tips throughout, and made sure everyone felt comfortable in the water. By the end of the lesson, every single person in our group was standing up on the board—which honestly felt impossible going in! What stood out most was how personal and positive the experience felt. They were patient, attentive, and genuinely excited for us when we succeeded. Lots of laughs, lots of cheering, and such a fun group atmosphere. If you want an experience that’s equal parts memorable, confidence-boosting, and just plain fun—this is it. Could not recommend Alvero and his team more highly. 🌊
Alvaro was a fantastic instructor! My 11 year old and I enjoyed a private lesson with him. He showed us correct form, got us comfortable with the mechanics before getting in the water, and was so patient and kind. I’m 50, had never surfed and figured it would be a lot of fun to try but had no expectations of getting up on my board or actually riding a wave. Both happened! It was a great experience. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful! Our two teenage children have never tried surfing before, the instructor was patient, kind, and knowledgable.
I had a private lesson with Alvaro and despite it being my first time surfing, he had me up and surfing almost immediately. Alvaro explains the concepts really well and was able to communicate in excellent English, what corrections I needed to make. He has a very relaxed and fun demeanor that made the lessons extra fun.

Second time surfing with Alvaro. He brought his board and we swapped waves for two hours. He expertly taught me how to gage waves, position my board for a ride, .pop up, the works. He makes a lesson feel like you are surfing with your best friend.

Had an incredible experience with Alvaro. The best surf teacher I’ve ever had. He had probably 20 tips I’d never heard before. After his instruction eas my first time “feeling it”. I caught tons of waves! Highly recommend!

Alvaro was a super teacher for my husband and two teenagers. They learned very quickly thanks to his coaching and wise comments. He really knows his stuff! I recommend x1000!!
