Really had a fantastic private lesson with Dave Castillo who showed me the ins and outs of professional street photography. I booked very last minute so kudos to Aperture and Dave for setting me up quickly. Dave took me to his secret spots on where to capture and paint a story thoughtfully through the oh-so-local neighborhood spots in midtown. The 3 hours went astonishingly fast. Am looking forward to processing my images back home as well as to contemplate and ingest his photography recommendations for night and street photography. BTW, Dave is super personable and tailored his lesson to my skill level and needs. Shall book again.

My son and I did a tour with Alexandra hoping to gain insights into taking better photographs of Street Scenes and Architecture and the tour did not disappoint!! Under Alexandra’s excellent tutelage we learned how to make much better use of our Cameras and how to compose better images. The tour was excellent and I would strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to improve their photography or just get great images of New York.

This was an amazing tour. I learned so much about photography with tour guide David Castillo. He taught me techniques and skills and showed me areas of New York I would never have visited. I had told Aperture that I didn't want to take normal tourist photos so wasn't sure what to expect. We met Jahne at City Hall and we walked from there to the Occulus via a couple of churches (trying to balance bright backgrounds and objects in shadow, then a boat trip to DUMBO and some great opportunities to take photos of New York from, Brooklyn. She suggested I try using Manual mode (AV is normal for me) and didn't give up on me! She was a great tutor and great company. My brother came along as a spectator and we both enjoyed chatting to her about photography and sometimes not. I would highly recommend Aperture Tours and Jahne. My next visit is to Berlin - I believe they do tours there, so watch this space.
